Never say never, but I have to tell you that never in my life have I heard of anything like this. I could be wrong (absolutely would not be the first, nor the last time!) but as far as I know, individual programmes do not get to decide where stuff gets written on a disk, it is up to the disk controller to do that.
As I say, that is my understanding and I am always keen to learn. Do you have a reputable computer source that could confirm your comment please? And when I say “reputable”, I am not referring to a random person’s opinion on a forum, I am talking about a recognised technical publication or vendor.
