One of those drives has many more writes than the other but neither are anywhere close to their limit. Also neither of them has ever even reached a warning temperature.
Quite possible that the slowdown/freeze glitch had its origin in something else and that the hard power off may have resulted in some OS corruption.
Have you taken a look into Event Viewer to see if that shows anything about the moments leading up to the forced shutdown?
