In MSFS2020 I kept the magdec.bgl file updated using the amazing resource at Navaids tools. The file itself was easily found in the msfs install folder.
MSFS2024 it appears to be streamed along with the rest of the scenery - is there any way this can be added (maybe within the Community folder) to allow an updated file to be used?

As far as I’m aware it needs to be upated every January and Microsoft, to my knowledge have never done so in the past.
That’s why Herve introduced the file in the first place.
With respect, I’ve kept an eye on magdec all the way back to FSX and the file is not officially updated (to the best of my knowledge). Herve’s latest file was updated on the 1st of Jan this year.
Updating the file in P3D would cause a rebuild of the scenery indexes on next launch taking the updated data into account. I’m not leaned enough to know exactly what this means but over time I noticed on older simulators that as the AIRAC cycles were updated and runway angles updated “on paper” they wouldn’t update in the sim UNLESS this file was likewise updated.
From Herve’s website: “Replacing the default MAGDEC.BGL file with the one provided will result in a better fit between displayed headings and current data”
I have not looked at this for a while, so it could very well be that you are correct. Hope Microsoft gives you some feedback, I think however this is pretty low on their FS24 task list
Oh I’m sure it is haha I know it’s not critical and I’d hazard to guess that most people don’t know of its existence. I have noticed its usefulness however, especially with approach plates giving a specific angle and scenery being off because of magnetic declination. More of a “nice to have” rather than critical, especially at this juncture.
