Main thread loads up more and more and doesn't recover

Thank you for your answer.

So is this happening to everyone? I have seen people flying for over 10h and had no issues.. I don’t know what else to do to be honest.

It happens for me occasionally too the a 14600k/ 32GB DDR5 6000/ 5070ti

And I play at 1440p high/ultra with texture res at medium and no dlss

In fact it’s happening right now. Just not to the same degree. But it’s definitely noticable. I took off from LAX with well over 100FPS (with frame Gen 2x) and now I’m barely getting 95. Which means without frame Gen ik at 45 fps AT CRUISE flying over nothing but water. I’ve notice main thread go from 6ms now it’s at 27ms and streaking red occasionally by the end of my flight I’ve no doubt it’ll permanently be red and probably in the 30s-40ls it’s absolutely ridiculous this issue has returned yet again in 2024. They claimed to have “learned” from 2020 yet we’re experiencing the same ■■■■ Over again like 2020.

■■■■, this is incredible!

I can do short trips of maximum 4h without any problems, only long hauls is the issue… I hope it gets sorted…

I remember having these issues in FS2000 over 25 years ago… and it has always remained an issue. Computer hardware has just gotten better to mask it unless you have the performance monitor on.

Can confirm this bug still exists. Although mainthread recovers a little bit better than SU3 (sometimes), but does not recover fully. I did a 5+ hours of flight from VOBL to VHHH with Say Intentions traffic and Rex Atmos Core and after landing and reaching the gate at VHHH, FPS was hovering around 30-42 max (native). To check it, I started a new flight from same gate and airport, Say intentions AI traffic, same time in sim and same everything, FPS was around 45-55 FPS (native). Aircraft was iniBuilds A350-900 with the Cathay livery and default cabin.

Is this the problem talked about in this post?

This is an interesting one tbh. But yes similar bug for sure, because for many simmers, the main thread starts to bottleneck after long flights. Have you increased your sim rate or did the thread actually started to bottleneck in such a short time at 1x speed?

This is actually at 1x sim rate.

This is also a good example, 160 fps after alt tabbing in the sim, then after 30 seconds its in the 130 range.

After a long flight my gpu utilization tanks..and my fps goes with it. I dont understand why..I have to exit the Sim and sometimes restart my pc to really start fresh and then I get another hour or so of great fps and until my gpu drops utilization. 4080 Super and 9800x3d

Check your vram usage with a hardware monitoring software or the msfs dev mode fps display. If you hit a GPU vram limit it could cause those symptoms and it’s possible the vram is slowly rising over time (I’ve seen posts about that problem). Could also try the dynamic settings option in sim to help manage the cpu and GPU load or the other freeware programs that do that.

I have the exact same issue as the original author. I haven’t found any solutions to my problem. My VRAM is nowhere near max I usually hover around 8GB out of 16GB on my 5080 and around 10GB after landing with heavy sceneries, but my FPS is still tanked, and I have stutters due to the high main thread.

Microsoft support has done completely nothing obviously, and it isnt any issue with any of my addons.

This problem still occurs in SU5 Beta, FPS Drops and sttuters when landing after long flights…

Nope I don’t see it on su5 beta but i still see it on su4 sadly.. not sure whats causing it but i hope Asobo release su5 soon I can’t take it anymore on su4 and im only staying just for chaseplane because default camera system is infuriating

Sadly it came back.. Asobo this is a joke at this point
