[MAJOR UPDATE][V 1.2] Black Square TBM 850

One more thing: Per the manual (which is great bedtime reading): "During high altitude flight, the “AUTO” bleed air setting may be insufficient to heat the cabin to a comfortable level. If this occurs, the bleed air switch may be placed in the “HI” position for additional heating. "

But I dont need to have the A/C on right? Like in Aircondition? =P Thank you so much for the info. =)

Yes, this is true. I remember flying this in Canada a few weeks ago in freezing conditions. Above 20k feet I simply could not maintain cabin temperature using AUTO. I had to switch bleed to HI setting.

Whether that has any impact in overall aircraft performance and/or fuel consumption, I’m not sure. Perhaps in the real world it only affects and wears down a/c components (otherwise why not leave it always at HI?) but I guess that’s not simulated in the sim.

Depends on altitude and OAT, but with BLEED HI, you can lose 4-8% torque, 2-10kts IAS, and increase fuel consumption by around 2%.

Bleed air comes off of two different compressor sections (only one is used until you’re over 80%TRQ), so when there is more demand, you’re basically robbing the engine’s compressor section of some of the air that would be used to run the turbine, so it has to do more work for the same power output. You end up with less margin before over temping the turbine (ITT), and you can also over temp the bleed air duct itself.

That said, if it’s really cold, you’ll probably have to run BLEED HI, just be aware of the performance penalties.

Amazing info, thanks a lot!

Feature request: Instead of the red/green Hot/Cold indicator lights (which I assume is not real-world TBM equipment), how about a passenger saying “it’s getting kinda cold in here…can you turn the heat up?” or “wow it’s getting toasty!”.

Yesss!! Great idea! It worked in Spad! Just what I was looking for. Thank you!

That is a great idea!! I’ll have to add that to our Air Manager instruments.

Voices can can be done in Spad.Next, now that I think about it. I have a countdown timer with “timer complete” voice for switching fuel tanks for the Comanche and Bonanza.

What a nice plane! Ive had it now for aobut 2 days.

Question, I have found that you can open the two sides of the engine compartment, as well as the passanger door and pilot door (both with steps). I also found you can open a luggage compartement from the click-spot in the cabin. Anything else? I cant find any chocks or way to place any chocks? No covers for the engines or pitots? Feels like I cant find some “hidden” functions - am I right? =P

Oh…and is this plane so well sound isolated? Even without the virtual headphones, its almost well…silent.

chocks are located behind the passenger seats,

if you like searching, there is also few fun placards to find :stuck_out_tongue:
clicking on the copilot side near the headset entry will active copilot in cockpit view

Those chocks look like Nunchucks! Maybe the pilot is a martial arts fan?

?

heavy , sure it can knock someone fast !

Thank you. I didnt look behind the rear seats! =P

Some more questions, The blinds can not be closed, and the sunvisors are not visible from the outside (only the frame). I would also like some more sounds in cockpit at landing etc. Maybe in future updates?

Is there any update on its way? =)

I’m sure some improvements and a few system sounds will be added; it’s what happened with previous Black Square releases. Nick has changed his schedule a bit, though the TBM was released a bit earlier than initially planned.

Six months ago, I made the decision to release my TBM 850 in 2023, in favour of working on the Dukes over the holidays. This has allowed me to spend several months developing countless new features, some of which I believe have never been seen before in Flight Simulator. Many of these new features will also find their way into earlier Black Square releases in future updates. I hope this update will make the wait worthwhile, and that everyone will enjoy flying these two stunning machines as much as I’ve enjoyed creating them.

sorry I can’t announce you any date for incoming patch, usually @SinewyDolphin74 keep us aware of developments progress

Right now the priority is the Duke but you can be sure other aircraft are not left behind or forgotten I’m pretty confident about that fact.

The developer is monitoring this forum, but I recommend heading to the official JustFlight forum if you have any suggestions. There, you will be more likely to share directly with Nick.

Interesting, as I find this plane to be rather loud, along with the BKSQ Baron.

A couple of times I’ve been on VATSIM and did my after-takeoff departure call, and heard back “unreadable” or “static”, having forgot to turn down my speakers and move my mike closer.

I guess I haven’t hunted around for chocks or other Easter eggs yet.

How to use the emergency extention for the gear? No engine, no power… Opening the lid on the floor, pulling the knob and start to pump - is that not the correct procedure?

Just re reading that one…

Per the video below (and the checklist provided within the sim), it takes 65 pumps to extend it.
