Manage descend and approach speed for the CJ4

I’m learning to fly the CJ4 and I noticed how, properly using the VNAV in the approach, you have to focus mainly on the throttle.
The FMS provides you suggesting a proper approach speed (usually around 104 knots).
My question is.
How do you guys manage the throttle during descend and landing?
Is there a specific procedure to follow (not considering STAR or approach possible restrictions, obviously) ?
Usually after TOD I put it somewhere between IDLE and 50% trying to keep speed between 200 and 240 knots then I try to be under 200 at iaf to smoothly reach the indicated approach speed in the last miles but it sounds to me a bit too casual. I mean with a C172 a caravan or propellers in general it is quite easy to drastically reduce speed but I think with jet you need to plan a bit more, especially if you don’t have any autothrottle
