I have added all the TIN cities for latest world update 14 and also all the city updates. World Update 14 POI also started but many more to add in the next few days.
I’ve long wanted a way to locate these POI while flying helis so I can go and check them out. It has to be hands off and easy to use because flying helis at city height is already demanding.
I used to use the VFR map in sim with your POI map on Google maps on my phone and try to match them up.
Now I’ve found that I can run little navmap and import the data derived from your POI maps (available at Little Navmap - MSFS POI database for Microsoft Flight Simulator | MSFS) then I enable the webserver option in little navmap and visit that from my phone. Now I have a fully automatic map on my phone which shows where I am and where the POIs are, which makes it really easy to fly around in a heli and visit them. I’ve been using this to good effect with the WU14 update so far.
Hello everyone. I just finished adding all of the POI to the map. It took longer than usual because Asobo didn’t provide a list of the POI this time around and I had to hunt them down the hard way in the simulator.
Have fun in your explorations! There are a ton of castles!
Map has been updated to include the new City Update 4: Western Europe.
Thanks for the update. I will just add that Newcastle, UK is missing a photogrammetry icon from the GOTY update.
Thanks! I must have missed it. I just added it to the map.
By the way, I leave photogrammetry layer OFF by default so that the map won’t look so cluttered. Just turn it ON to see all those.
I probably should’ve specified it should be Newcastle upon Tyne in the north east of England & not the Newcastle in Northern Ireland
Got it! Fixed again lol.
Hello everyone. I updated the map with World Update 15 Nordics and Greenland the day it was released but forgot to mention it here. Happy flying!
Just stumbled across this valuable map, many thanks and appreciate the WU15 updates !
Found one. Definitely looks hand crafted. It’s listed as POI in FS but not on your map.
Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit
Almost exactly 100 miles WNW of Sydney.
Address:
Mountain Straight, Mount Panorama NSW 2795, Australia
That was included in WU7.
I’m always looking for new POIs for my Ultralight Sightseeing plans, especially places that are not the usual castles and cathedrals.
The Mount Panorama location is great; two airports nearby for takeoff and landing and an interesting POI. This will be today’s upload to flightsim.to.
Thanks!
@SCLINC @RagingWombat839 @FederFlyer That is indeed hand crafted. I just added it to the map. Thanks guys really appreciate it! Together we can fix the erratas.
Just found another one. While flying in the Gold Coast, there were several POI, mostly non-custom, even one called South Pacific Ocean in the water. There are a couple buildings that look quite good but are still obviously AI generated but the one labeled Ocean, 88 The Esplanade is custom and listed in the POI list but not on the map.
Got it, thanks! It’s a hotel called “Meriton Suites Surfers Paradise” and that’s how I named it and just added to the map. “88 Esplanade” is the address of the hotel.
Yes, I only put the custom hand crafted 3D objects in the map and not ones from the photogrammetry.
There’s another one just north of the Green Island Jetty off the coast of Cairns. It’s on the MSFS map and definitely hand crafted. It’s called something like Great Barrier Reef activity platform.
There’s a small airstrip in Papua New Guinea called Guari on the MSFS map. It’s just about 20nm NNW of Tapini (which is listed). It has a couple hand crafted items. Not many, but it’s a very small strip. [-8.128284, 146.872286]
On the other hand, Guavi airstrip is not on the MSFS map, but included in yours. It’s a real airstrip but I didn’t visit it to check if it has any bespoke scenery.
There are three on the MSFS map for Pohnpei, Micronesia which aren’t on your map or even listed in the MS list for WU XIII. I’ve checked two so far and can verify bespoke scenery at Sokehs Rock and the State Government building. I haven’t flown past the Nahlap Island Wreck on the south side of the island yet but will check later.
@SCLINC I have added the Activity Platform and also fixed the airstrips in Papua New Guinea. I’ll check out the other stuff you found later when I get the chance. Thank you for helping!
