Two days ago, we began the public beta test for Sim Update 2, the next major update to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This is one of — if not the — largest updates ever for MSFS and contains hundreds of bug fixes and other improvements. You can read the full release notes on our forums here. For anyone who would like to join the beta test, you can find instructions for all platforms (PC-MS Store, PC-Steam, and Xbox Series X|S) here.
I’m not a programmer, but in my opinion, if you want to make major changes to a software, including changes to core functionality, it would be more prudent to do it in stages rather than updating everything at once, which ends up resulting in a very unstable build, making it very difficult to figure out what exactly is causing a specific problem because several things were changed at the same time and any of those changes could be causing the problem.
Updating in stages makes it easier to identify what is causing specific problems without resulting in a very unstable build that is unable to collect valuable data. I understand the beta has unstable builds, but what kind of data does Microsoft/Asobo want to collect if users are not even able to load a flight without CTD?
