I am asking for advice on settings so that I can increase the performance flight simulator. AMD PRO rates performance as marginal. The frame rate is 2.3
As a 81 year old retired pensioner, hardware changes are money limited.
My system configuration is:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6 core 9.3Ghz processer
System memory 32GB 3000Mhz DDR4
Graphics card, AMD 580 2048SP using HDMI to a 4K tv
Storage 2 ssdd’s, system drive is a 1tb ssdd
FS drive, 500GB ssdd with 300GB free
I made a mistake, the processor is 3.6 ghz
This is not a Technical Support Response
This would be the biggest bang for the buck place. A 4GB VRAM card was certainly minimum specifications when the sim first debuted August '20, but it didn’t take three months before most field analysis showed the sim needed at least 8GB. You’re also driving it to a 4K TV.
So,
- Go into the settings for AMD (and perhaps the TV) and change the resolution to 1080p (1920x1080).
- Change the Resolution in the Game Settings to 1920x1080.
- Select Medium graphics preset in the Game Settings and adjust some things downward. Set texture resolution to LOW, turn off terrain shadows, turn down shadow maps, turn off contact shadows, turn off texture supersampling, turn off ambient occlusion, turn off Raymarch reflections.
If all this works to your liking, you have saved yourself some money. Otherwise, search Amazon for “video card 8GB” and you will see you can get a new card for a fairly good price. If you search “RTX video card 8GB”, you will notice the price doubles. Your local computer shop will most likely be the best choice for getting you to a happy experience if you are not comfortable with hardware upgrades yourself. Cheers.
Would this video card be a good solution?
XFX Speedster SWFT 210 Radeon RX 6600 CORE Gaming Graphics Card with 8GB GDDR6 HDMI 3xDP, AMD RDNA 2 RX-66XL8LFDQ
Have you looked at the site https://uk (dot) pcpartpicker (dot) com/list ?
You can select the components of your current PC using the site’s powerful part picking tool, so that it will give you a good idea which GPU is likely to work, as well as function as a price comparator.
The tool’s compatibility feature should limit your choices and highlight for you any issues that could exist.
Thank you all for your advice! I used the “pcpartpicker” site and the recommended Video card. The card is a MSI Radeon RX 7600 MECH 2X Classic OC Graphics Card. I was able to get a great price from B&H in the US. As I live in Canada, even with the shipping and customs fee, I saved $175.00CD
