I keep it simple, get it via the platform that you got the sim off from in the first case, for me steam
This was confirmed in the recent dev stream, answer is yes for both marketplace purchases and PD edition planes.
To be honest I found the answers in the stream rather confusing than clarifying but anyways as I am on steam and will stay there, I donāt mind
Yes, the stream wasnāt exactly clear, but Iām pretty sure theyāre tied to your Xbox account, so the platform shouldnāt matter.
Cross-Platform Compatibility
- If you own MSFS 2020 Premium Deluxe on one platform but buy MSFS 2024 Standard on another, youāll still have access to the Premium Deluxe planes from MSFS 2020.
According to the article by MsfsAddons, it should be available.
MSFS Team Answers Questions About MSFS 2024 in Latest Developer Livestream
I like this answer (Iām hoping to switch to Steam for 2024 after too many MS Store issues with 2020), but listening to the live stream Iām not sure the developers even know for sure. They talk about it at 1:38:03, and seem a little uncertain. https://www.youtube.com/live/PYJ2tuhyEEY?t=5853s
Following this with interest.
My case I bought PD from Steam, since then I have subscribed to game pass ultimate so would like to just install the Standard edition from there and keep my PD aircraft and airports, I have some marketplace add-ons - but most are from third parties like Orbx direct
Also following this with great interestā¦ since I plan switching from MS store to steamā¦ with the answers in the stream Iām not yet convinced since like someone else said they seem a bit uncertain themselvesā¦
Though what really interests me does anyone know what happens do the Dune and Topgun thingsā¦ I really would like to keep the Darkstar and Ornithopter for the 2024 since they are sooo much fun
I mean its something that is āownedā in the marketplace/content managerā¦ but I didnāt find anything about this getting in the 2024ā¦
Iām also in the same boat. I have MS Store 2020 but want to get 2024 on Steam. The stream was very confusing about the subject.
The FAQ just says 2020 in-game purchased content will be available in 2024, does not differentiate between Store and Steam.
For any content you purchased in the Marketplace in MSFS 2020, that content will show up as owned in the Content Manager (in MSFS 2024 called āMy Libraryā) at launch for you to use in MSFS 2024, and the vast majority of that content should work in MSFS 2024. This availability does not require developers to sign off on their content.
Lets hope theyāll make a clear indication to this topicā¦ or we have to wait till it comes out and then see what worked and what did notā¦
I luckily donāt have much money in the marketplace fortunatelyā¦ for me the only reason to ask is because of Darkstar and Ornithopterā¦
