I believe there is a long backlog, as MS have to check things to make sure it complies with its market place requirements. There are also certain rubbish so called developers holding up good developers from publishing due to multiple submissions of rubbish software. MS do not check for quality of any software submissions, so it is up to us to check forums and independent reviews before purchasing anything from the market place.
In all fairness lack if content release is enough to stop us buying anything
just wondering ālack of contentā do you talk of ?
There is new stuff in the market place every thursday, some good some bad, even though I look every time there is a new release I dont always Buy any think.
Are you saying you purchase every time new content is release ?
there is hundards of Items in there If I purchased every thing in there I would be Broke
Of course, unless youāre on Xbox, theres no real need to buy from the Marketplace. Remember Marketplace software is encrypted, so not easily modified and if its military, will often be missing weapons etc. Obviously if youāre on Xbox youāre stuck with it.
I agree. There is new stuff there all the time. There is so much stuff there that I could not go through all of it in a week of Sundays.
Itās just frustrating to know that third party devs have updates they submitted last year that are still not out in early March. I really hope someoneās looking at streamlining/revamping the ingestion and certification process internally.
Because night lighting really does it for me every week ![]()
Yes i know of products that was submitted in November that still hasnt released⦠![]()
Iām always reading ābuy from marketplace, it helps MS/Asobo out more with profits yada yada yaā on here. Yet there are still issues with Marketplace since release that havenāt been addressed.
The same energy isnāt being reciprocated to customersš
Last dev stream back in February they mentioned there were 600+ items queued for the marketplace, well if you are on xbox then last week you had 18, the week prior you had 12 new releases, so thatās 30 out of 600, sure that 600 may not all be available to xbox but even if only half of them are you do the math and add to that the stuff being submitted by devs constantly. We already are a month since that dev stream so I can only imagine what the queue is today. Updates to existing contents also take a long time, the spitfire patch took about 3 weeks to become available. Burning Blue designs from what I can see already has 3 airports still not on the MP and Iām pretty confident in assuming they are queued already, why does a dev like that with so much existing content already have to be queueing at all and thatās just naming one. So yes for all those āwhat are you talking aboutā defensive statements, Iām sorry the MP very much has an issue when it comes to keeping pace, not having a go at Asobo and they are admittedly even aware of of the fact that the whole MP needs a rethink, but even that project seems to be in the same queue and itās frustrating for consumers stuck on xbox. There being plenty to buy is also a non argument, people arenāt chasing a retail therapy endorphin release here and therefore will just buy anything, like any consumer interests are going to be limited to certain items.
Despite that long queue, shovelware devs only have to wait 2-3 weeks for their stuff to hit the marketplace after release on other 3rd party marketplaces. Anything CS, Bredok or MSScenery seems to jump to the front of the queue while quality add-ons languish in limbo for months on end.
Iād love to see how they really triage stuff for marketplace release.
Really appreciate your constructive rephrasing! This is a fair question that weāve touched on in the past, and one that weāre looking to address more in the future. The Marketplace in general is something weāve been having broader conversations about, and weāre definitely paying attention to the feedback about it.
As other users mentioned, the biggest cause of delay in the marketplace is that there is currently quite a large backlog of content, and all of it needs to be tested before it goes to the marketplace. Generally you can also assume that the more complex something is, the longer it takes to test.
Jorg spoke about this quite a bit in our last Developer Stream in February, but the ways weāre looking to address this are hiring more people on our side, and also exploring options to open it up so that third party developers can test it themselves on our behalf.
Weāll definitely share more when we can about this!
If youāre interested in more information about the Marketplace, hereās a timestamp to the recording of the Developer Stream where it was discussed. We also have a written transcription here if you prefer text over video like me. The marketplace information is near the very end. ![]()
Please donāt take this post as a violation of the rules. I will stick to plain facts so there isnāt a question on whether something is an opinion, or what the intention was.
There can be about 12-18 new releases each week for each platform with the current staffing. Currently each week, there is a developer who is simply reskinning the Cabri G2 with a new external model, and releasing 2 of those each week. (The proof of that is each aircraft has the checklist of the G2, even if the aircraft that is being modelled doesnāt have all the equipment the G2 does). A simple reskin of a default aircraft can be turned around much quicker than developers who has spent months fully producing a content piece from scratch. 2 out of 12 of the available spots each week is clearly giving that developer an unfair advantage on sales each week, and complicating the process of trying to get new updates and new products from other developers into the marketplace.
While putting a priority on aircraft and updates showed that Microsoft wants to resolve the issues the best they can with the manpower they have, this developer is falling into the loophole of the process and benefitting from it, and making the situation even more noticeable and frustrating for other developers and users.
Iāve done a suggestion to maybe improve the prioritization of the queue;
The Marketplace has been managed quite terribly so far unfortunately, and the opportunity to corner the entire PC MSFS market has been lost; this could have happened easily during the first 1.5 years of MSFS, but that momentum has now been lost.
Instead, it has progressively driven off PC buyers, for the following reasons:
This is problematic because sales on the Marketplace are a way to fund MSFS.
With that said, the Famous Flyers / Local Legends series is excellent and for many the only reason to use the Marketplace.
Finally, more than hiring more people to work on the Marketplace, itās the ingestion process that should be revamped to solve the bottleneck.
Itās a matter of supply and demand.
Microsoft wants to earn money from the store with as little financial effort as possible. MS has been known for decades for comparably bad support of their own features and only improved a bit when they were forced by very strong competition. Internet Explorer has always been one of the worst internet browsers, so people went and got Firefox, Chrome and others. IE lost massive market share and so they were forced to work on it. Windows itself is another example what happens if you try to sell almost the same version over and over again so they had to change the business modell, the last win I purchased was 7 and from there I got 10 for free and am now offered an upgrade to Win11. Sure, there are other things happening in the background but for me as a user and customer it has improved. The win store is a big problem at the moment but who purchases stuff at the store when you get better or the same stuff somewhere else?
Why would I get flightsim addons at the ingame marketplace if there are so many so much better vendors all over the internet? Eventually MS will either have to improve their MP or they will lose market share, 3rd party stores wonāt sleep for sure. As long as people go there and blindly run into the same issues for the third time there is no need for MS to do anything. Itās all about our consumer behaviour. As long as āyouā purchase lowest quality helicopter addons they will release every week. It has to pay out, otherwise neither the dev nor MSFS would release them.
The Marketplace is a business that pays out. They will not change their offers just because a handfull of people complain on a forum⦠^^
Well, you can see what happens when you have 99,9% ā ā ā ā addons in your shop when you look towards the x-plane org shop.
And if you are not a 20 year experienced simmer you pay more money for addons that work ā ā ā ā (because you dont know better).
I thought that a quality control like apple should do the trick, but on the other hand someone has to set the standards, perform the controls etc pp.
Marketplace is still working better than the x.plane thing, but there is still some asset flipping-quick-money-stuff in the marketplace that in my opinion should be removed asap.
I was excited (at first) about the Marketplace, however, now I feel totally inundated seeing so much stuff flooding the marketplace. I know, it is all about revenue⦠I get that but gee whiz⦠so much just plane STUFF. Some good, some incredibly poor, some priced ok and some reeks of gouging⦠I have taken a serious break from the marketplace.
Yes, Iām carefully watching the prices of planes/add ons now. Iāll only buy when whatever interests me is discounted reasonably in a sale. I have plenty to fly otherwise. I stocked up, so to speak, in the Black Friday/ Xmas sales.
