Marketplace Planes Issue

So I spent 60 USD on the Bombardier Challenger and the Learjet but the throttles do not respond to mouse or gamepad input. I tried looking this up but every result was about the throttle controller even when I specifically stated mouse/gamepad. So how do I fix this issue?

I tried getting a refund but I couldn’t because of a stupid Steam policy about since I purchased third-party game currency (through Steam) they could not refund.

Additional Detail: I should have been more specific. The throttles do not move forward when I try to use them. The engines fire, but the throttles do not move.

  1. Show me the page OPTIONS/CONTROLS and your settings.
  2. What model hardware do you use?
  3. Are you on Xbox or PC?

If you haven’t, the first thing to eliminate is a mod conflict.
These can arise from any other addon, whether in your Community folder, or purchased from the Marketplace.

I do not use mods.

1: Mouse + Keyboard + Gamepad Controls are all default. I did not change any of them.
2: If you mean my GPU it’s an RTX 3050 Ti
3: Like the tag says it’s on PC through Steam

Mods are addons.
Any addon you put in the simulator is called a mod.
You’ve stated you purchased two addons, so you do use mods.
These can and do often conflict with other addons causing similar problems as to those you are experiencing.

I purchased 2 planes from the marketplace. Wouldn’t they be considered DLC not Mods? I did not add anything from outside the game.

DLC are known as mods, as they aren’t included with the sim.
However, if you have tried these with only one of them installed, and the issue remains, this probably isn’t the issue.

Yes. I installed one and tried it and it did not work. I installed an tried the other and it did not work. I also just recently uninstalled the Learjet as it did not have a checklist. Might sound like a silly reason, but I consider the checklist part of the immersion. I kept the Bombardier installed though.

No ‘ingame’-checklist - yes; but you’ll find a comprehensive checklist in the EFB.

… back to basics … you are flying (Steam) with a Game Controller.

  1. Which game controller? Tell me
  2. Is there any default aircraft in the sim that reacts anyway on your controller?
  3. Did you check the Big Picture Mode in Steam

I have decided to just uninstall the additional planes and stick with the basics.
It should not be that tedious an issue where I have to change this and that.
If I download a plane in this game it should map to the needed controls by default…or whatever control is necessary for the plane to function.
That being said I do appreciate your responses. Thank you.

Note: With MS Flight Simulator 2024 coming out in November, it’s pointless to buy downloaded planes now anyway.

Uh… two things:

You shouldn’t have to change your default controls. I’m quite sure the only thing I ever changed from default was the button for after burner on the F-18. I’ve downloaded many planes, they all work with my controls. Meaning I set them once and it works for all planes.

Downloaded planes in general will work with MSFS 2024.

In the greater gaming world, you’d be right. This community is odd in that they mix the terms freely. Possibly because there’s so many different developers making paid addons.

This might help moving forward.
This is a terminology thing that i can see some users finding confusing. A mod by its name is shortened from modification. A whole aircraft is not a modification it’s a product in its own right. I know one might argue that anything that’s over and above the vanilla sim is a mod but that’s just sillly. I’d suggest we try to just use add-on for whole aircraft, scenery etc and specifically mod for changes to any of those whole things, That way it’s clear to what anyone is referring. If we just use mod for everything there is no differentiation.

Yes, the term mod could be considered misleading!
Your suggestion is a good idea, but the issue is that we can’t change that.
The term is used from the top folks on down in this sim.
It actually does mean “anything that’s over and above the vanilla sim is a mod” in these versions of MSFS.
