How to Join

  2. Check the Helicopter Club channel for the flight plan, spawn location, and voice comms info.

  3. On flight day, set your sim to MSFS 2024 → Southeast Asia server and spawn a few minutes before 10:00 UTC.

  4. Join the brief, take off together, and enjoy the adventure!

  • Fly with care: Maintain spacing and stay coordinated, especially in tight landing zones.

After an excellent flight in Japan with the OZx group on Friday, I thought I’d try my hand at creating my own Japan route!
While it might not be quite as thrilling as the one @Greg (Scaber) put together, it’s still a great way to spend a couple of relaxing hours in the air.

  • Distance: 194 NM

  • Duration: ~2 hours (maybe a tad over)

  • Cruise Speed: 100–120 knots (your choice of craft)

Today’s adventure takes us gliding across the rolling Tuscan hills, from Pisa to Florence — a scenic ridge-soaring route through Italy’s heartland. Expect thermals, vineyards, and stunning views of the Arno Valley.

  • Preset: SSC 071 – Scattered Clouds, 6,000 ft, SE 10 kt

  • Manual Option: Cloud layer at 8,000 ft, wind 135°

It’s a midafternoon start, so give the sun time to warm up the slopes before launching — perfect for thermal and ridge lift.

  1. Departure: Take off from LIXQ Aviosuperficie Grecciano. Catch the local thermals before cruising north toward the hills.

  2. Pisa Views: As you approach the ridges, Pisa will appear on your left — drop by the waypoint if you’ve got the altitude.

  3. LITV Turn: Turn right over LITV, following the river and highway as your natural guides. Welcome to Tuscany’s wine country!

  4. Waypoint 2 (SE Turn): Choose your ridges wisely here for efficient lift and smooth transitions.

  5. Waypoint 6 – Rufina: The birthplace of Chianti wine — perfect time for a (virtual) toast!

  6. Arrival: Enjoy a scenic pass over Florence’s POIs before gliding down into LILT Campo di Volo Empoli.
