Massive Simulations 32 – Friday Happy Hour
Italy Week Flight #5 – Percorso di gara del Giro d’Italia!

Buon venerdì, pilots! ![]()
It’s time for Friday Happy Hour with Massive Simulations 32, and this week we’re continuing our celebration of ITALY WEEK!
This will be our fifth Italy Week flight, and with the Italian Grand Prix at Monza this weekend, there could hardly be a better excuse to combine two of our favourite things:
Aviation and
Motorsport!
For our Percorso di gara del Giro d’Italia, we’re setting off on a fast-paced tour through northern and central Italy, visiting famous race circuits, legendary Italian automobile manufacturers, historic cities, spectacular scenery and several locations featured in the latest Italy City Update.
From Monza to Ferrari, Lamborghini and Pagani, and from Imola and Mugello to Florence and Pisa, there’s a LOT packed into this Happy Hour!
So grab a drink, fire up something quick and come join us! ![]()

THE BASICS
Date: Friday, September 4, 2026
Takeoff: 1200 UTC
Departure: Orio al Serio – LIME
Destination: Pisa San Giusto – LIRP
Server: Southeast Asia
In-Sim Takeoff Time: 10:00 AM
Weather: Historic
Pace: 215 knots
Simulator: Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
Suggested Aircraft
I’ll be flying the pace aircraft at approximately 215 knots.
For those looking for a nice, calm flight where you can let the autopilot do some of the work and enjoy the scenery, you’re welcome to stay with the pace aircraft. I’ll be using the Cirrus Vision Jet, but any aircraft capable of cruising at 215 knots or more is welcome.
For those who prefer Happy Hour with a little more excitement — under bridges, through canyons, around buildings and generally terrorising the tour leader — feel free to bring something faster! ![]()
Just remember to hang around the main group so you don’t miss the tour stops.
A couple of important reminders:
-
We haven’t been able to test every aftermarket aircraft, so you are responsible for knowing the limitations of your chosen aircraft.
-
Autopilots behave differently. Some anticipate turns earlier than others, and indicated altitudes aren’t always exact. Keep an eye on the terrain — terrain clearance remains the pilot’s responsibility.

FLIGHT BRIEFING
We begin at Orio al Serio (LIME) and immediately head west towards one of the most famous names in motorsport:
Monza!
With the Italian Grand Prix this weekend, we’ll fly over the legendary Monza circuit before continuing towards the Alfa Romeo Museum.
From there, we head into Milan, taking a tour over the city’s POIs before picking up the Autostrada del Sole and beginning our journey southeast.
Along the way we’ll pass numerous historic Italian cities before reaching Modena, where our tour becomes very Italian indeed. ![]()
Maranello – Ferrari Country
Turning south, we’ll head for Maranello, home of the Ferrari Factory.
Nearby we’ll also take a look at Ferrari’s famous Fiorano Circuit, where generations of road and racing Ferraris have been developed and tested.
But Ferrari isn’t getting all of our attention today!
Turning northeast, we’ll continue our tour of Italy’s automotive heartland with visits to:
Pagani
Lamborghini
That should give the car enthusiasts among us plenty to look at! ![]()
Bologna ➜ Imola
Our next southeast turn brings us to the beautiful city of Bologna, where we’ll take in its historic POIs before continuing to another legendary name in Italian motorsport:
Imola! ![]()
We’ll fly over the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, home of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix and one of the most historic circuits on today’s route.
From there it’s on to Forlì (LIPK), where we’ll put the aircraft down and stop for a well-earned…
COFFEE BREAK!
This is Italy, after all. ![]()
Rimini and the Adriatic Coast
After coffee, we’re airborne again and heading east towards the Adriatic Coast before turning south for Rimini.
Rimini has recently received some attention in the sim, so we’ll slow things down enough to get a good look as we pass through.
From Rimini we’ll continue past the Misano Circuit before heading over the Parco Tematico dell’Aviazione.
TIP: The photogrammetry here is best viewed from approximately 1,200 ft AGL, so keep that in mind as we approach.
We’ll then pass the Ripa Calbana Quarry, an historic location containing Miocene carbonate rock, limestone and sandstone, before turning inland and heading for the mountains.
Into the Mountains – Destination Mugello
Now things get interesting!
Our route takes us across the mountains towards another of Italy’s great racing venues:
Mugello Circuit
Those of us who have spent far too many hours playing racing games will probably recognise this one immediately — and may have put in a few laps trying to master it! ![]()
![]()
After Mugello we’ll pass Lago di Bilancino and the town of Cavallina, before turning south towards one of Italy’s great cities.
FLORENCE!
We’ll make our way across Florence and its numerous POIs, giving everyone a chance to take in the city from the air before beginning the final portion of our journey.
From Florence we turn west towards the coast, visiting:
Pisa
Livorno
And after one last look at Tuscany, we’ll line up for our arrival into Pisa San Giusto (LIRP).
Engines off. Drinks out.
Happy Hour accomplished! ![]()
