Thursday Airliner Night is doing something a little different this week!
Forget the usual airline schedules, passenger terminals and carefully calculated cost indexes. For this special event we’re trading the airliners for military heavy metal and heading across the American Southwest from Roswell to Edwards Air Force Base.
Bring out your C-17, A400M, C-130, B-52 or whatever military aircraft takes your fancy. And yes — fighter escorts are absolutely welcome!

Or perhaps you’d prefer to arrive with something a little more intimidating:

And we’re certainly not sending all those valuable heavies across the desert unprotected…
Fighter escorts are welcome!
Bring along your F-14, F-15, F-16, F/A-18, F-22, F-35, Eurofighter, Tornado, Mirage or whatever else you’ve got sitting in the virtual hangar.
If it’s military, you’re welcome to bring it.
Departing Roswell
Where better to assemble a large formation of military aircraft than Roswell, New Mexico?
We’re making an 1130 UTC departure this Thursday, forming up after takeoff and pointing the formation west towards California.
Whether Roswell’s most famous visitors were actually weather balloons, extraterrestrials or something altogether more interesting is a discussion best saved for the cruise.
Just keep an eye out for anything unusual joining the formation…
Destination: Edwards AFB
Our destination is one of the most famous locations in American aviation history — Edwards Air Force Base.
Sitting alongside the vast expanse of Rogers Dry Lake in California’s Mojave Desert, Edwards makes the perfect destination for our collection of military transports, bombers and fighters.
After crossing the American Southwest, we’ll bring the formation into Edwards and get as much military hardware onto the ground together as we possibly can.
Expect big aircraft, fighter escorts, formation flying and probably at least a little chaos along the way.
In other words, a proper Fly Massive night.
