Massive Stuttering At all big custom airports

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Anytime I land at a custom airport like JFK, BOS, LAX, etc I get massive stuttering regardless of what plane I am in. The stuttering will not stop unless I restart the sim, even if I load a flight in the middle of nowhere in the C172. I can also fly close to the airport and it wont stutter, it just happens as soon as my wheels touch the ground. I have a high end PC so it should be able to handle these airports. I am using NVIDIA DLSS

ICAO, coordinates, or specific location:

Any large airport

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

No

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every landing or taxi out at a large airport

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Land any plane at JFK
  2. DLSS on most settings on ULTRA
  3. No traffic

Happens with TAA too. I’ve even tried turning settings down to low.

MSFS 2024 cannot handle large airports.

Can you enable dev mode with the frame rate info and post a screen shot. Along the your graphics setting and resolution. Looks like vram limitations to me.

Just did a quick test, landing at JFK with the Ini A320 but cannot reproduce such a low FPS with my low/medium config (for FS2024). I obtained an average of 25/30 FPS, inside & outside views.
SU2, TAA, no traffic, almost all settings on Medium
Ryzen 5, 3600
16 GM RAM
RTX 2060 (8GB)

I would say there is something wrong with your config/setup.

Yeah I’m gonna try DLSS swapper and deleting Shader Cache. I have way better specs yet it will freeze frame even on low settings

I deleted my shader cache and updated DLSS swapper and it fixed my problem. Just got 90FPS landing in KBOS on high settings

Glad issue has been fixed :+1:.
Or it was the DLSS version or the shader cache as suggested by @Maki152 in another topic Horrible stuttering, FPS drops at airports, during landing, / BETA 2 (1.4.14.0) - #236 by Maki152
Happy flights !

It was only temporarily fixed. After 2 flights I am back to stuttering at DFW. My shader cache size is cranked up to 100GB in the Nvidia control panel. Pretty disappointing it’s already back to a slide show

It’s hard to see on video, but according to the FPS viewer in dev mode it’s good, but what I visually see on the screen is a lot of stuttering whenever I move the camera. It’s like the screen is tearing

It seems to be more of a v-sync issue. I followed the steps in this thread

Set VSYNC to fast, and limited frame rate to 90fps and it seems to have fixed it

What size is your Rolling Cache?

Also, please post a video (or a screenshot while it’s stuttering) with Dev Mode ‘Display FPS’ showing.

Nvidia shader cache size is set to 100gb rolling cache in MSFS is off. I think it was a VSYNC issue all along. In dev mode it would show 90-100fps but the screen was visibly stuttering. I have a 165hz monitor, but VSYNC was off in Nvidia app. I turned it to fast and capped MSFS frame rate to 90fps and it’s looking much better

Rolling Cache in FS2024 is quite different from the one in FS2020.
I know many people turned it off in FS2020 without issues.

But the new sim uses data differently. My recommendation is to set the RC to 100-256GB (depending on available drive space.)

This thread goes DEEP into an explanation.

I personally use a rolling cache of 300GB.

Mine is set to 256GB.
