Maule M7 by Pilot Experience Sim

how much experience do you have on the real one? interested to know more about the qualification „OK“. i was one of the beta testers and a pretty experienced real life maule pilot for glidertows and as a instructor and it flies on the numbers.

soundwise: yes it is the bonanza but with custom sounds for the stall and it will be evolving over time. the team behind the aircraft is hard at work and very open to constructive feedback :+1:t3:

VR-position: the position is ok. the problem is something else: the dimensions inside the cockpit are a bit off. the part below the panel is lacking some height. i told the team and we will be working on that, but this is going to be hard as it changes a lot.

No autopilot really sucks. Hand flying in the sim is a pain compared to IRL. Would be good to at least have the option

i respect your personal opinion, but please do not count this as a negative point for the sim-version of a plane if the real life counterpart does not have this option as well. that‘s pretty much the same as asking for a steam gauge version of a plane that only comes with a glass cockpit in real life (i.e. the kodiak).

Sounds like this is a product with promises for future development (for sounds and such) and not a lot of “extra” features. $27 USD for that does strike me as a lot, especially considering the Norseman from Big Radials came out the same day for much cheaper and with more extras, and incredible sounds and visuals to boot.

I don’t plan to pick this up right now, maybe if it improves later or drops in price, but this is just my read of the situation given these comments here. I’ll be checking out video reviews to further make up my opinion in the future.

The pricing and features are not really in-sync with the product pricing.
If it ever gets custom sounds I’ll get it, a Maule with Bonanza sounds is not my definition of a good quality payware.
Sorry.

Definitively going to grab the Norseman from Big Radials, that’s the way to do add-ons.

The beauty of GA is you can retrofit your plane with whatever you want. If I had a real Maule and wanted to fit an AP into it, I could go buy one and have a mechanic install it. No one IRL would do a steam-gauge conversion for the Kodiak. Not only because it’s a downgrade, but also because no such thing exists or has ever been approved. There are many Maules with APs in real life. I think the simple Asobo KAP140 would suffice

well the norseman is just a totally different airplane. if i want a maule i wouldn‘t buy a norseman just because that one has got better sounds or a feature more here and there. i would buy the maule because i want a maule. and i can tell you this one here is flying very much like the real one. and for me it is about flying as this is what we should do in a flight simulator . but that is my personal opinion. and to make that product even better over time i invest some free time to support the devs with data, videos and photos so we all can enjoy that mighty maule in this fantastic sim.

true, you can retrofit. i can only tell you this: i have flown five different maules in real life and not a single one has an AP. and recently that question about AP came up somehow virally and is pointed out as a negative if it doesn‘t have one. and that‘s a bit unfair imho when the real life plane is only equipped very rarely. a maule is a bush plane, a true pilot‘s aircraft that needs a looooot of hand flying. you won‘t fly that beast in and out of short backcountry strips with a AP. you want to feel it, master it and enjoy the power!

What should we understand by “adapted realistic sounds” ?
If the sounds are from the Bonanza they are not realistic at all, I read your post about the sound being adapted for stall but let’s keep the product honest and just say that custom sounds will be added later.

i edited my post above where i got that info from: they stated this on their facebook. i don‘t know if they adapted something else besides the stall sound. and just to say: a maule is not too far off of a bonanza soundwise. but yes, there is work to do.

Yeah, I noticed this, too. It’s really the only thing that bothers me about this aircraft. I really hope it can be fixed but I would be (pleasantly) surprised.

And as you said - “the team behind the aircraft is hard at work and very open to constructive feedback”
So that’s why it’s not relevant how much we flew nor how many versions of a plane we know.
What is relevant, however, is a product that wants to compete against other competitors on the market at a margin of about 30 bucks
So any new customer and critic is a potentially future customer aswell.
Nothing more

The sound in this video here is the one of a Bonanza,…and as far as I can see it is made by using a mobile phone

Not bad at all in my opinion…maybe an idea for you and the team…Gliding season 's ahead

i talked to the devs about that. don‘t know when and if… all the animations are based on the model and they would need to start that from scratch regarding that part. but never say never, right?

i asked you because i might have missed something while testing the beta version and you spotted something you could share.

you are right, competition is hard at that price and we (pilots, simmers) got quite used to very high quality planes around that amount of money. i don‘t want to justify the price but i learned that it is quite hard to earn a living by developing airplanes for msfs these days.

yes the devs already have many many videos from me while i was instructing our towing pilots and i will be more than happy to record some more sounds while towing gliders. and because this is what i will be doing tomorrow, i will catch some sleep now  have fun simming and talk to you guys later.

Yep, here i am, bought the Maule. And i do like her… somehow.
I am okay with the soundset, and i like how she flies. But this ground handling… is it just me? I’m having a hard time getting her off the ground while she is floating around in some state between rolling and flying.
And i really really dislike the tail numbers! I want to use a custom registration, or at least some valid tail number, but what is “TR123” supposed to mean? And ATC calls me “Pilot Experience Sim 03”? I didn’t expect that.

Do you know if there are any plans to add glass doors like the FSX model had?

I loved that plane…

Same here !
And the search and rescue mission for the missing co-worker pilot.

Did you try to change the tail numbers and the ATC call sign via the MSFS options?

I only tried to change the Tail Number, but that does not work. Tried changing the callsign a few minutes ago, works :+1: So obviously no problem there, but that tail number… :unamused:
