Maximum amount of sim objects

Can we get an option to raise the amount of sim objects being rendered?
Every city and every airport it is the same: Missing objects and pop-ins while passing the object.
Turning around on an large airport feels like playing GTA 4…

What is your terrain LOD set at? That determines how far away objects start to populate. If that’s set low, I could see that being part of the problem.

Set to max. :grimacing:

Thank you for your post!

The SU14 Beta category is meant for discussions concerning testing of that Beta.
As this is not included in the SU14 Beta, and is an existing sim limitation, it has been moved to Wishlist.

Please check out these other categories for your future posts:

  • Aircraft
is where you discuss current or future planes coming to MSFS.
  • World
is where you discuss scenery, airports, and weather.
  • Aviate, Navigate, Communicate
is where you ask for help with flying.
  • Tech Talk
is where you discuss graphics, drivers, performance, CTDs, and hardware.
  • Menus & Activities
is where you discuss activities (landing challenges, bush trips, etc), plus anything accessed by the menus including the Marketplace, settings, logbook, cameras, etc.

I wonder if the closer objects are being overridden by further objects. Maybe try reducing the TLOD and see if that improves the near object density? It’ll be at the expense of further objects not rendering, but I’ve found after a certain point in the distance it makes little visual difference.

To avoid having photogrammetry buildings and objects “pop in” and out as you look around, set “terrain pre-caching” to ultra (beware you will still get “pop-in” for airport objects and autogen or 3d-modeled scenery objects, which are treated separately from terrain and photogrammetry scenery objects).

Beware this will increase VRAM usage, but if you aren’t overflowing VRAM it can improve smoothness because it avoids reinstantiating objects as you look around.

If you just want to make Terrain LOD higher, note that you can turn it up higher in the config file than the GUI allows. 2.0 in the config file == 200 in the UI. You can search around for howto documents on editing the MSFS config file.
