Exactly! I don’t buy captain sim level products either but look at them as subsidizing the incredible amount of free/affordable content we get. 13 world updates, 2 avionics updates, a310, etc all costs money to make. Given the amount of players on game pass, I imagine they don’t rake in loads of cash from selling the game only. I suspect marketplace sales plays a large part in the free content we get.
