With the announcement of Meta VR glasses shipping in spring 2027 and running the horizon OS which also runs on quest 3, it will be possible to use the glasses in MSFS 2024.
The obvious drawback is the 70° FOV however if I buy a pair for media consumption then it would be remiss of me not to try it in MSFS 2024.
The advantage over my quest 3 and MeganX 8K is the eye tracking foveated rendering, so performance will be pretty good with an impressive 37 PPD, just more head turning but wearing 100g glasses is a massive comfort boost.
Yes day one buy. A light open-periphery design that is super sharp and you’ll still be able to glance down at your controls and keyboard. Seems perfect for this. I think the FOV will be fine.
Yes, I think you are right, an open periphery system to glance down at keyboard and controls could work well.
After all, we are seated and naturally move our head around the cockpit looking at instruments, so after an initial period of adaptation, it could be a daily driver.
I think the key for me is if there is a good selection of immersive media, sports and some innovative MR apps at launch. Will definitely try out at my local store and see how I get on.
