If that were the case, they could just say that. There’s really no excuse for complete silence unless something heartbreaking happened to the team. Even then, just say something. People would understand.
Yes, that would be nice if the world worked that way…
It seems to me that a few moments to touch base with paying customers isn’t an ask - it’s an obligation. Am I wrong? Seven months?
Eh, my attitude is nobody owes me anything. What I do do tho is slot people in various orbits based on how much I trust them to act in a way that works for me.
Point being, I wouldn’t call it an obligation, per se. There’s no law that governs this, nor do I think there should be. I would say to vendors, the better you communicate, the more I’ll engage with you and your products…
well - did I say ‘legal’ obligation? no
I refer only to the social contract and what we used to refer to as ‘best standards and practices’ back when such things were emphasized or considered paramount to conducting ‘good business’
not to belabor it.
Just as a point of clarification, I’m not sure what the “seven months” is referring to, but the last communication we’ve had from the dev team was on July 28. So it’s been about two months at this point. While two months absence is normal for some devs like AH, this MP dev team had been very hands-on and involved from the beginning. To the point of weekly if not daily communications.
So to drop off the map like this is completely unlike them. In the unlikely event that the entire team was facing some serious personal issue, surely someone at MP could make a simple statement while respecting privacy. This reads to me like the project is paused if not dead, and the devs have been reassigned. Again, I really hope I’m wrong.
Yes, it’s been seven months. Providing a quick update should not be taking such a long time. If personal issues are involved, people will understand. Just tell them. We live in an era where communicating to large groups of people has never been easier.
And you are absolutely, objectively correct.
7 months since the last update to the product.
2 months since comms blackout.
Yes, a statement is warranted, but I remain in the concerned camp
