Goes both ways. I see people calling for someone to be fired because they’re not happy about a game. As if their own personal Armageddon just happened.
Airspeed indicator and altimeter both work fine for me.
Yes. It was on me:
I’m not going to bash you completely for this, because you make a lot of great points. The fact we can VR in flight sim is fantastic, but the majority of simmers don’t VR, so they’ll prioritize stabalization of the overall product before optimizing VR, and I’m ok with that. I personally don’t play without VR, so until I can play (I hate saying play, I sim – as authentically as I can), 2020. I’m happy with that, but I’m so confused on how I finally got it to run perfectly for 26 hours of gameplay without a single CTD and they update and all of a sudden I have CTD’s. Granted, my PC updated to 24h2 at the same time as the sim update, but both are from microsoft and so you would think there would be some sort of cross-checking to ensure that it will run. That’s like buying an apple product and they send you a software update that messes your capability of sending and receiving text messages, and then just letting it go for a while. Unacceptable, regardless if it’s VR or flat-screening.
I just hope it gets fixed. Soon. Before Christmas, you can’t send the whole dev team on vacation dec 11th with this much instability. I think even if some worked from home while half kicked in the rear from some good wine would help – coding might be better!
Are we? You can speak for yourself, but please don’t speak for me.
Personally, I’ve not called anyone a crybaby for expecting a product to work when they’ve paid for it. I’ve called people crybabies for being crybabies. It’s absolutely possible to be frustrated with the status of a videogame without having a childish meltdown about it.
That’s it then. It’s a video game now. Sad. It used to be a a simulator. A hobby. The whole direction of this “game” was flawed from the get-go.
Was you referring to me? If so, I didnt call for anybody to be fired.
Sorry to break it to you here in 2024, but it’s always been a game, starting back in 1982. Does it aim for more realism in systems and operations than many other flight games? Sure. You wanna insist on semantics, calling it a “Simulator” so that it feels more sophisticated? Go right ahead. No harm there. But it’s still just a game that you’re playing for enjoyment.
So much bombast! It’s always been a flight simulation game, just as 2020 has been and still is. We love it so much that it has taken on more importance than a game, and that is a good thing, but it remains a flight simulation game. I’ve read around here that some real world pilots find it more compelling than some actual simulators used for their training and what not. Why all the high emotions then? Can’t we all just get along.
This marks the 43rd year folks have debated if MSFS is a game or a sim.
I think it’s just that a lot of people were really looking forward to this sim. I know I was. And it ended up being such a let down. I think I would have been more happy knowing there wasn’t a new version coming out and kept on playing 2020. 2020 still rocks. I’m one of the people who hasn’t paid any money for it. And I’m still let down. But I can imagine how peeved off people that paid money for it are. The only thing this sim is good for now is doing free flights using some of the very fee planes that work as they should. And that’s about it. You trying to do any serious navigation forget it. It’ll get there but it’s just going to take a year. And in the meantime people are going to bash, and it’s a well deserved bashing.
AND/OR AND/or and/or!
Cup half full folks: AND
Cup half empty folks: or
Here’s the most recent one.
Sounds pretty personal to me.
We even got progress with this patch and people are still angry. This guy even admits he hasn’t bought it.
He admitted he hasnt even bought it?! Oh well then fair enough. An obvious troll who’s trying to throw petrol on the fire. Because of the publicity the launch has had, I suspect there’s going to be quite a few deliberately trying to stir things up on one side or another.
Right now, 24 is only working for me for daytime VFR free flight in GA aircraft models. That’s it. And none of those models are without significant defects; but I am a resourceful pilot who can fly through those defects. To fly IFR in IMC or at night, or to fly the heavy metal, its’s 2020 (which is working quite nicely on my Series X, with all its limitations). The career thing was of interest to me but what it is described to be in actuality by fellow gamer pilots, well I’m just not that interested in credits or penalties, so I have not even tried to go down that rocky road. Too bad though, the idea of starting a new career was exciting to me before I learned of how it was implemented in the game. Not my cup of tea, I’ve already earned my wings, but we can always learn something new it’s just that the punishment model is not conducive to continuing education.
Because I was smart. I got a free game pass to try it out because I knew it might end up being something like this. And let this be a lesson to all those people that spent a lot of money buying new computers for the sim. Don’t spend any money until you see the product.
I’m sure their computer will be good for a myriad of other things too.
Obviously. At least make an educated choice. I still don’t get pre-orders…
Because it’s not like I’m NOT going to buy it. I’ve bought every version since 1982. And because I’m not going to have a meltdown as if my world is ending when there are bugs. So I preorder and fly the preorder plane in 2020 for a few weeks. Why not? Games aren’t going to stop being released with issues. People can spout “Not preordering is the only way to show them!” all they want. That ship has sailed.
Back in 1982, a patch was sold as an entirely new game.
