Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 General Feedback

I used to play 2020 probably 4-5 days a week since I got in Dec 2023. But since Nov 2024, my usage rate for both sims has drastically dropped, where out of frustration, key feature delays poor performance and lack of a clear specific roadmap, I am having more fun playing other non sim games on my xbox. I probably load it up once every week or two now and give up if 2020 crashes after a 15 minute load time, let alone the 2002 like graphics in FS2024. Tho Im hopeful eventually things will sort out. until things are running fast, looking nicely, market place is open, all my content is there & the UI is fixed so one can navigate and do control bindings, I will be a lesser using customer. $130, never again will be an early adopter.

it’s also frustrating that they chose to launch a game near thanksgiving thru new year. lets make a game but then be gone for a month to not support it. now the holiday are over but still no official chime in, opting to wait till Thursday. disappointing

Let hope it!

I am afraid that it will take more then one or two years to get the new sim in a propper release state. I think Asobo has taken the wrong turn by putting the sim up side down and not building further on there 2020 platform.

Avsim is a tough audience… don’t let it bother you.

I was saying that I could not move around at all during the preflight…I couldn’t get close enough to the pitot tube covers to remove them, so I was done going flying because I would have no had no airspeed readout with the pitot tubes covered (B747 800)…I was actually unable to move (couldn’t walk, couldn’t run) at all to complete the preflight…I modified the profile and evidently vaporized the bindings for moving around on the preflight…so I was wanting to know how to reestablish the bindings again to make the preflight functional…

I don’t think Asobo is at fault here (completely). Microsoft is the one who pulled the trigger on this release. I came across a review from an Asobo employee claiming Asobo’s relationship with Microsoft is complex/complicated.

question on bindings…there is an ā€œairplaneā€ binding (which I am assuming is the binding in the left column) and a ā€œdigitalā€ binding (which I am assuming is in the right column)…at any rate, getting rid of the right side bindings is virtually impossible (maybe I have achieved deleting one of these by pure luck) for me…what is the proper way to get rid of one of these bindings (I am assuming these are the digital bindings)?

I can understand that, because i can’t imagine that Asobo took the pad of making the sim fully streaming. I think that Microsoft want the game to be compacter for the Xbox users.

Most users want a lot of games on there game box and then a game that was growing to more then 500GB gets a little bit to big.

had a strange thing happen to me 2 times today…free flight, B747 800 Asobo, pressed the communication option to have the passengers boarded at the gate…the simulator put me in flight about to crash just after takeoff…twice

You would think they used FS2020 as a starting point for FS2024, but it sure doesn’t look that way. These are two completely separate branches where all the good things from FS2020 seem to have disappeared. Some things long fixed in FS2020 have resurfaced with FS2024 :face_with_spiral_eyes:. That is the opposite of progress.

I use Studio One v7 music software. It has ALL of the features of…

v1, v2, v3, v4, v5 and v6…

Because each version was built on the one before

If the rest of the world designed and coded like Asobo, we would have Mad Maxed out a long time ago

That is incorrect. The Airplane means it is stored in the Airplane binding profile (as opposed to General or Specific).

The left and right columns give you the ability to assign two different control bindings to the same function.

So you could have Shift-1 in the left column and Alt-K in the right column. Either Shift-1 or Alt-K would then activate that control.

One sure fire way to delete the binding in the second column is to click the little gear at the far right of the row and then click the toggle switch at the bottom from Primary to Secondary. Then you can click the trash can icon to delete.

Depending on how you have your keyboard setup (2024-based vs. 2020-based) you can place you mouse pointer over the binding and press the backspace key on your keyboard to delete. This only works with the 2024-based keyboard bindings, currently.

Seems like a bad way to run forums, forcing people reply or whatever so many times before posting. More would get done if this was a proper open forum.

Having run several forums myself, I believe it’s an unfortunate necessity - Putting some initial restrictions on new accounts prevents a flood of bots and spam. Many forum software platforms do this by default because without it, the burden on moderators becomes difficult to impossible.

Requiring a good behaviour for X number of replies over Y time filters out many, many bots and trolls that would otherwise ruin any forum.

New members are ā€œlockedā€ to prevent bots and spam (as we get a lot of these). A real ā€œhumanā€ can read and understand the requirement. It doesn’t take long to advance to the next Trust Level. The requirement is very low as indicated in the guideline that @TheSevenflyer linked.

well on a positive note about 2024 it looks as though icing is back. thats awesome.
i just flew the 172 into the blizzard, carrying a decent load, and sure enough, after about 30 minutes that thing dropped from the sky, and i mean dropped
the alternate air doesn’t seem to be modeled though… its always something isnt it?
regardless, it looks like dangerous icing is back, thats good

Right on!

I have really missed those much earlier times with 2020 when I was sweating out a sexy bad decision to fly an aircraft not equipped for icing conditions into, uh, icing conditions.

Such good times!

When will the poll be opened? it’s been 2 months and I have experienced enough to be able to leave my poll ratings on this sim.

I think they’ll open the Poll once the game leave Beta and hit retail…

I’m pretty sure, given the length of this thread and many others, they no longer need poll results to give them a picture of the state of the sim.

If they still do, well, they aren’t reading.

Does it still look wrong like FS2020 icing effect? i.e. how I find my car in the morning covered in frost. In-flight ice accretion on non frontal surfaces like side and cabin windows etc?
