Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 General Feedback

I wonder if it depends on the aircraft. The A330 is new to the sim and is the only aircraft I’ve flown in icing conditions. All of the ice buildup on that is on the nose, the icing indicator, as well as the leading edges of the wings and engine nacelles. So perhaps aircraft that were in 2020 haven’t been fixed to be like this?

You’re so right… I was being over dramatic and having a little Temper tantrum and then I decided to share it with the world for some reason and trust me I’m not that guy… this is the only form of “social media” I participate in… I will give it more time as it has many promising things to offer… a lot of the planes are better… flight model feels a little more realistic…flight planning and the efb are great although I don’t like that it’s a permanent fixture in some of the aircraft… thanks for putting things back into perspective for me… and I can’t believe I even had to just say that talking about what is essentially a video game… for me anyways…I think I like flight sim so much it can cause more of a reaction than is warranted

No idea how you’ve come to that conclusion.

There’s much I like about MSFS. However, despite the technical advances of 2024 (which in my opinion are generally working well), some of the other stuff added to justify the asking price is absolutely awful.

Your account isn’t even a month old. I think most people who’ve been here longer would consider your ‘faith’ rather naive.

Are you still feeling hurt? And you’re checking out my account and calling me naïve? Try to let it go my friend. If I hurt your feelings, I apologize. Let’s keep this forum civil.

I can’t agree more. After just getting back VIP missions, I have now encountered two CTD after flying for over an hour each. MS forces us to play this game over the internet but yet can not support that process. What’s the point. This game now is all just Glitter with no substance. They did not learn anything from all the problems they had with 2020 starting out and are just repeating it all over again. X-Plane 12 here I come.

I totally get it. I bought a new PC for 2024. It didn’t arrive until the 27th, but it runs 2020 great. First world problems, I know. Still, I made it through the holidays. Some days I just can’t look at the sim, and I have nothing else in my life. Yeah, days like this.

I feel the same way.

Here’s the problem. Since the launch of MSFS 2020, Microsoft has asked for patience to get things working, stable, and reliable. There is a growing and unsustainable amount of patience debt now, in my opinion.

It’s very unfortunate that MS botched this launch so terribly, but giving up on it is just open-ended waiting. Might as well wait and see how it goes.

I still haven’t installed it at all here but am getting closer.

MS really needs to get this house in order. This launch will go down in computer gaming/sim history and probably puts the franchise in at least some danger from getting summarily dumped again in spite of MS’s 10 year pledge. Hopefully they do a deep dive on why this launch was so painful (not delaying it was probably a huge factor) so this kind of thing doesn’t happen again.

Since playing 2024, I really feel like my aviation skills suffered since all I do is deal with work arounds and career is pretty useless since I’m really just “gaming” at this point. Ie: trying to make as much credits as possible, sim rate, skips, passive income. It’s all min/max gaming.

Free flight in 2024 is actually empty since there’s no traffic and the world seems empty.

In 2020, I would always see others around. Maybe miles away but always lots of others online.

2020 was therapeutic.

2024 is anxiety.

I’ve gone back to 2020 as well.

Moderator Edit:

Hello pilots, I fly on the X-Box and there are actually a lot of problems. I haven’t seen a single foreign plane in the two months I’ve been playing. There’s nothing going on with the missions. Free flight doesn’t work at all.
Big planes don’t work at all.
Atc also works sometimes and sometimes doesn’t work and the dialogues in the missions are translated terribly. In missions with a Pilatus there is usually not enough fuel in the aircraft.
I’m really annoyed that I paid €220 for it.

Good flight

Guten Flug

You can hide the EFB in the cockpit by clicking the power button on it. It is on the upper right side edge of the tablet. The mount will remain visible - click on the mount to bring the tablet back.

Its a flight sim, not an airport sim, there is no need to announce departures  :grinning:

Same here, I have tried and tried to give 2024 a chance but it just continues to disappoint. I sucked it up and grinded away at career mode until I could buy a Visionjet only to find a glitch where there were no more VIP flights. I went back on 2020 with my virtual airline for a couple weeks over the holiday break. Came back last night and noticed VIP had returned so I sat down for my maiden voyage for my shiny new jet. Took off, autopilot wouldn’t engage, autothrottle wouldn’t engage - and while I’m trying to figure out why all the things I’ve done previously aren’t working, the jet overspeeds for quite literally 3 seconds. The “Aviator Performance” popped up that the jet oversped and before I could even read it fully, the “Your Jet Crashed” screen popped up. Closed out and I went from mid ‘S’ tier reputation back down to ‘B’ for a second time, the first after that stupid Tornado mission glitched out on everyone. I’m done until PMDG can get their aircraft in the game, and you can fly with others online. I have given the gaming side of it a chance and it fails miserably time and time again, and I am a patient person, and like you all I really want it to work for sake of flight simming. But I’m sick of wasting my time, what little of it I have free. Hope they get it sorted out, I really do.

I actually decided to give myself a break from MSFS2020 (didn’t buy 2024). Haven’t flown since Thanksgiving and I feel so liberated. More time with my family and for myself. My marriage is even better. Not sure if or when I’ll go back. I’m in my mid 60’s and have owned nearly every sim since FS-1 and XP-4.
Not sure if/when I will ever go back. Life is short. Wasted too much time troubleshooting already.

This sim is awesome!!! And will improve overtime.

We have fires all over LA county right now. Fired up a free flight with live weather at KLAX and you see clouds. But you also see the smoke clouds out of Palisades. North of KLAX. Although sad situation in real life. It’s amazing how they can add it to MSFS24.

I did several over 1h flights in the last few days and only time I had problems with this game was when using default planes, airports or ATC. My advice is stay away from anything made by Asobo, if possible of course. Beyond ATC+Fenix320+3rd party airports combo works great for me every time.

Default Airplanes = Essential
Airports = Essential
ATC = Essential

Was that comment necessary? If someone has faith the sim will be improved there is no need to belittle them for feeling that way. Asobo has my full support and I have faith they will sort out the bugs. I think some need to learn to speak for themselves.

A pretty LANDSCAPE does NOT make a good flight sim. It helps but if flight systems and environment suffer because of it makes it a huge failure. To those that bought FS2020 an upgrade to FS2024 should have been available. It is a shame FS2020 didn’t get to 100% before FS2024 released. The reason you release a new product is eliminating the problems with previous product and improving the customer’s experience with added value. Eliminate the problems with FS2020 and I assure you sales of FS2024 would double. And yes, I agree wiyh you.
