Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 General Feedback

One thing that’s odd is why are the 2020 world updates, etc.,are not just part of the base 2024 game?

It’s a very odd way to present a ‘new’ piece of software or an application and the say, P.S., here’s all the updates we did to the previous version that are now in the new version - why mention them at all?

My Library would look a lot cleaner if they just disappeared. It’s not like you can block them, unless that’ll be an option down the line which again would seem like a very odd way to do things.

I’d assumed things like scenery updates in 24 will just appear like magic without any input or choice from the end user, I could of course be wrong…

A few of us were having a discussion about this very thing on an Xbox-related thread.

It’s hard to know what the intention here was.

Were all the WU/CUs meant to be rolled into the base 2024 sim content? If not, what is purpose of them being separate streamed packages? Is there performance to gain should one disable these (when that functionality is implemented) or download these rather than stream them?

Moderator Edit:
Thank you for your contribution. I think this could be related to the A320 family aircraft. I don’t seem to have any problems with the A330 or the other aircraft

Grazie per il contributo. Penso che questo potrebbe essere collegato all’aereo della famiglia A320. Non mi sembra di avere alcun problema con l’A330 né con gli altri aerei

It’s precisely these kind of odd decisions that make you wonder just how rushed the release was.

I’m fine with Simobjects, etc being downloaded at the start of each session, I’m fine with planes being downloaded when you select them - this way allows for ongoing updates and micro-patches without any need for traditional releases.

I’m fine with high def scenery being streamed & cached as and when required, overall the design seems like the right approach IMHO.

Sadly there seem to be so many bugs with the main application and for XB users like myself it’s not a good experience at all so far, can only hope things improve a lot with next few releases/bug fixes.

I find that my VR frame rates vary widely depending on which direction I’m looking in. Yesterday I was at 5000ft and I got a locked 45 fps when I looked left but only 19fps when I looked right. There didn’t seem to be any difference in terrain features. Does anyone else have this?

So, you have a bug in 2024? Sorry, they are way too busy trying to get 2024 to work to look at your bug. Got a 2020 bug? Nobody cares cuz the 2024 house is on fire.
How can you support two flight sims, when you seem to struggle supporting just one? How can I tell what’s what in the forums when I see issues tagged for both sims? You can’t depend on folks using the correct tags on the posts.
Have you noticed all the 2020 Local Legend threads are locked in the forums?

Define Europe. I’m in Europe (NL) and haven’t had any issues besides the initial server struggle 1 or 2 days after release. UK seems to be a problem though for a lot of people.

Sweet and sour.

I play this simulator since 1998 and every generation has more bugs when it is just released. The approach they have in terms of programming, makes them release technically incomplete games in alpha stage. They fix them over time, but they have so much source code with semantic errors that they never get it completely right. Pilatus PC24 does not work at the moment. Not all 2020 add-ons work directly although they are updating them progressively. Not all hardware scale the game linearly despite CPU optimization. Problems with graphics where they do not display correctly. Sometimes some airplanes work correctly, and sometimes not. The lights look less real than in FS2020, something that is supposed to be the opposite, more real. I only use flight simulators and it did not meet my expectations. I don’t know what happened, that having a base like FS2020, that even with errors but working relatively well, they have released this game with so many errors, as if it was a game that they build from scratch. They have to abandon the model of fast and incomplete programming. They have not fixed the behavior of the atmospheric piston engines as it gains altitude. They have a developer like A2A simulations that can give them detailed lessons on how a piston engine works and especially when it gains altitude. Take advantage of these resources. I have more stuff but my expectations at this point are already low. I hope you will make me change my mind. In other hand, the sceneries, several of them, looks impressive. The Robinson R66 flights impressive. The Turbine temperature is programmed incorrectly but the helicopter department it is and improvement.

Should be relabels MSFS 2025 Early Access, so much is obviously place holder like the W&B screen’s.

Xbox series X….

In NL as wel. Loading the sim is no problem, but in 4 of my 5 flights almost no textures were loaded, making it look awful. It is really weird how the experience between users can vary.

Now this to me is really a big problem, a big scam. What I saw from the trailer were no blurry textures, houses that look like polygons etc. Im on Xbox series X and it is worse than 2020. I really hope it is a server problem because if not, this is a scam. I did not pay 140 euros for fsx. ( flight in new Zeland, a320 neo inibuilds)

Why don’t you also put a feedback on virtual reality (VR)?
I hope it’s an oversight and not because you don’t care

Had my first flight in Asobo 737max. EDDH to EGPH. Spend quite some time getting all controllers and switches setup but well worth it. Absolutely love this new sim sofar. I’ve used FSUIPC, Pilot2ATC v2. WOrking fine and dandy.
AMD 9 7900X 12 core not OC, RTX 4090, 128 GB Ram, Sim running on a 2TB NVMe SSD. Cache size 1TB, 55" 4K tv with 2 other smaller monitors.
Still only getting 30FPS if lucky. We just need to keep adjusting. LOL

Because Microsoft does not care about VR due to niche market size. They disbanded the VR team and only dragged to MSFS2024 whatever was already developed for MSFS2020, without even much testing.

Hey Microsoft/Asobo,
How would you feel that instead of the $130 I paid for the Flight Simulator 2024 – Premium Deluxe version, I only gave you half?

And when you fixed some of the bugs, then you’d a little get more. And when/if you fixed all or nearly all of the bugs, then you would get the rest.

That way, you would have an incentive to fix this mess sooner rather than later and we users would finally get what paid for when we paid for it.

I managed to check out the simulator in the last few days. Until then, I couldn’t even log in because of the servers. I should add that the servers, or cloud or whatever you call them, are not working properly at the moment. However, it can be said that the beauty of the landscape and the view, which is important to me and many users, has disappeared. The developer downgraded the view. Bad LOD settings, blurry textures, poor quality photogrammetry.

I realized that there was no major improvement in terms of performance, they rather downgraded the view, thereby gaining a few extra FPS.

At Default airports I get 40-50 FPS

At Addon airports I get 10-20 FPS + STUTTERS

AMD 5800 X3D
32GB RAM
RTX 3070 8GB VRAM

You should really prioritize the optimization of your Addon products, otherwise nobody will buy anything from the Marketplace.

Try increase rolling cache. I set increased from 16 to 32 GB, works better.

When the game started, I wasn’t too angry about the lack of connection possibilities. At 54 years old, I’ve seen enough botched releases to remain unfazed. My thought was: “That’s okay; they’ll fix it, and I can enjoy it in a day or two.” And I was right – at least about gaining access.

My career started well, but then the problems began. I lost XP, experienced frequent crashes, and my reputation plummeted twice… you know, the usual AAA title shenanigans :P.

Despite this, I remained impressed by other aspects of the game, especially the visuals and cloud effects. So, I tried to reason with myself, accepting the bugs and messed up systems, and joystick controls. But today, I finally had enough: the game is simply unfinished and untested. Even fundamental elements at the beginning of the career mode don’t work! Did nobody test them for goodness sake? For god sake, even first helicopter training mission gets stuck in an endless loop…

I’m a reasonable person, but this is too much. I won’t ask for a refund because the game has potential. But honestly, it’s not in a state to be considered a finished product. I’m leaving it for a week and will test it again. If there’s no progress by then, I’ll return it.

What a shame.
