Three weeks. Two hot fixes. And still I get CTDs after 10 minutes of trying to do anything, and I mean anything. I have a top tier computer with 64GB Ram, and I 3Gbit fibre internet connection to my computer. That’s if the sim will even load. FPS when it does load is lackluster, most of the aircraft are useless and I paid for the aviator addition.
This is vanilla no addons.
This is beyond frustrating.
I’m goin back to 2020 until this waste of money is fixed, maybe just on time for 2028. Maybe Google will have a superior sim by then.
NO MORE MONEY from me Microsoft/Asobo until you get your S together.
I am not a fan of the career mode although i did mess around with for a little bit after the launch and it is a buggy mess. However, now that I have moved away from that and just using free flight it is clear that there is a really good foundation for the sim moving forward. It looks so much better than 2020 and the flight model feels better.
Looking forward to what is to come over the next few months.
I do feel sorry for the third party developers. I think their sales will suffer badly with people not wanting to buy 2020 products nor 2024. There is too much uncertainty in both franchises.
Short update on the user numbers on Steam.
FS24 still going down slightly. FS20 seems to be on a stable 6k level max over the last few days.
The overall lower numbers is most likely contributed to the workweek seeing viewer Players for both Sims
I have to agree with this sentiment. I currently don’t feel like spending a single cent on either sim right now. I think devs are caught between a rock and a hard place. FS2020 now deprecated, and FS2024 in a fluctuating beta state and people likely reluctant to part with any more money on it until it stabilises. All this in the key lead up to holiday season too, and with the marketplace currently INOP. Not a particularly good marketing strategy releasing a sim with a dated title so late on in the year too. All just crazy from a small dev business POV, I feel sorry for them right now.
I don’t know what to say, 2024 is not perfect, but in my case it isn’t that bad how people complain as total disaster. Yes, I expected more, but I do not have CTD in flight, they do occur sometimes if I load another flight after I finished one or more.
So far, I fly mostly GA because of absence of liveries for commercials and also I do not have all aircraft which I have in 2020.
Yes, ground textures are doesn’t look perfect, but far better than they were in 1st few days, at least they doesn’t get totally blurry, so I guess it will be solved soon.
Beside that, I can say weather is better, when I fly around my town, depicted wrather is very close as real. When it is rainy, cloudy and windy in real, very similar is in sim. Unlike 2020, where it happened totally different, like we have showers in real, but in sim Sun was shining with just few clouds.
In last two days, I completed two flights which were about 2h long, no problems.
In some time this will be very good sim, at least how it looks to me right now. MS/Asobo knows that they must polish this, stakes are high.
After all, something like this, no one did before, whole world, there is a lot of data, a lot of aircraft. Only games where we more vehicles to use are racing gamesy but there is much more to be done for aircraft than for car.
Haven’t flown helicopters in flight sim in the 24 years until now, I managed to land on a oil rig in VR using quest 3 flying the Cabri G2. It was in free flight and really exciting. I use a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 I bought in 2003 and set my controls:
set cyclic lateral axis
set cyclic longitutude axis
set tail rotor axis for rudder pedals
set throttle axis
Agreed, I can’t see anywhere a significant improvement. Improvements are only seen when you get extremely close, but from a normal flying distance, TLOD 200 looks like TLOD 50 in 2020. And no, I don’t have dynamic lod enabled.
It needs removing from xbox marketplace. Free flight doesn’t work. Career missions dont load. Landing challenges dont load or work at all. Its literally the buggiest game i have ever seen. Complete mess and unplayable. Why in earth did they release it and not delay it. It has to be removed and only re released when it’s playable. Embarrassing for asobo
What you are experiencing isn’t the same for everyone else on Xbox. I’ve got 8 specializations unlocked and have 7 certifications. I’ve been able to fly three and a half hour employee missions with very few problems.
So there is no need to pull it from the Xbox Marketplace. The devs just need to fix the bugs.
Post the bug reports you have filed and perhaps it will get better visibility. There seems to be a lack of bug reports for Xbox and yet I see quite a few people complaining about problems.
To be fair, I’ve been in this camp since they announced 2024, for the most part. I think I’ve only bought a couple of aircraft since that time and zero scenery.
The uncertainty (regardless of compatibility claims) since they announced 2024 and, now this, since they launched 2024 has completely slammed my wallet closed.
What I have spent money on is hardware and improving my sim rig, which has been very rewarding for improving how I fly. 2020 has never been more awesome for me than it is now with how I have my rig configured. At least there has been that to focus on!
Same here, I just bought some foot pedals (my last set were 20 years ago in F2000!) and what a difference they are for helicopter flying. It’s one of the few things I enjoy in 2024 with the new ground textures/scenery/trees/grass etc. Airliners not so much as some sceneries need approving and AI traffic is a shambles again. Oh and I had a super bad stutter / poor FPS on approach into ini’s EGLL in the Fenix presumably when sim was loading the (now comical) sim AI traffic in, so some things definitely need improvement or other 3rd party add ons to be brought on in to make it better. I’m equally diappointed that in game ATC is just about as bad as ever. Marginally improved, but with new bugs is how I’d describe it.
I did flip back for one flight in FS2020, and it is so much better (maturity wise). I do think there are glimpses in 2024 of good things to come, but in many ways (depending on what you are doing) it just feels like stepping back to FS2020 in the summer of 2021 again in terms of bugs and missing stuff. I think that’s what gets me the most. On the other hand I do love the 3 minute load times, and my server access seems to be fine right now given my slow broadband.
I really hope they can get on top of some of these more glaring issues, so we can start to experience 2024 more like it should have been.
Did you watch the stream from yesterday?
It was hard to get a sense of what their triage plan is for the current state of things. Yes, we all know there’s a bigger patch next week, but I either missed it or it wasn’t mentioned what happens beyond that. Maybe someone else can straighten me out on that or I need to go back and rewatch it.
Jörg laid out the 2025 schedule, which includes quarterly SUs, but we clearly need more rapid deployment updates in the immediate future until much of this has gotten fixed.
I really do want to see what next week’s patch brings to help get a sense of how much they are able to address in such a short time.
It’s clear the planes in career mode where meant to be painted because you don’t even get the default livery, this is an unfinished game…for get botched luanch…
Iam aware there are inconsistencies. I too have 9/10 certs and specialisations in career .But this last few days nothing works. Landing challenges never have worked, free flight worked on day 1,2 & now not working since. How do yoy file a bug report ? Trying to find stuff on this website is a pain, all so jumbled up.
I’ve not seen the stream yet. I’m guessing much of the forthcoming patch will be to fix things that missed launch like having the marketplace working. They surely need that before holidays one would expect!
I’m guessing 2020 compatability for aircraft and sceneries are being frantically worked on too for this upcoming release, that and the ability to download our M/P content.
I’m also guessing that some of the aircraft issues (new ones in default sim) will have some patches because of the rush to release on 19th November.
I think it will likely be a mixed bag for fixes beyond that, but you never know. I guess it depends on when their initial release candidate was finalised. It could have been from 2 months ago so they have a more polished version to update to now.
I don’t hold huge hopes for our reporting of bugs based on 2020 experience though. Like we have found out some bugs take months/years to get addressed or are never are fixed.
I’m sure there will be plenty more new fs2024 stuff to distract us with though!
That speaks volumes, no? Things cannot be good if they are electing to forgo income during this timeframe.
They do not have a good track record, no. However, I have never seen such an acknowledgment of the existence and volume of bugs as I saw in the stream.
They also have the CMs, here, actually getting in there and tagging bugs at a rate that I’ve never seen before, either.
I’ve also never seen as many threads/posts regarding bugs, bugs reporting, and the bug fixing process as I have seen since this launch — and they haven’t all come from me, ha!
Maybe we have seen a “come to Jesus” moment here and they are stepping up.
The results of all of this will soon be put to the test, and that will be the real proof.
