Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 General Feedback

Very few CTDs in VR before this disaster of an update and now so frequent this mess has become unplayable.

Heathrow EGLL departures in VR with Reverb G2 just produces massive stutters and some CTDs but North USA flights perform better.

Can someone at Asobo/MS please return the green grass strips I’ve been landing on for years in 2020 and that are actually green in RL. They are now barely green, just brown strips of dirt. I know it’s a minor point compared to everything wrong in 2024 but I just wanted to vent some frustration about 2024 that wasn’t the usual stuff we all know is wrong. anyone who thinks it’s a season thing it’s the same colour every month of the year…… they just need refund everyone and go away for a year a sort this mess

It’s a big shame for Asobo and Microsoft.
I don’t understand that they had the guts to put this product on the market.
Totally unbelievable.

I am so sorry for the customers who both the Aviator edition and paid more then $200 for this buggy unusable product. It’s a shame!

I’m on Xbox series X, and going back to flying on 2020 is an absolute pleasure compared to 2024. Frame rates are much higher, I can use my mouse to pan around the cockpit, ground textures are a million times better, menus are less laggy. Yes 2020 had it’s faults, but it’s an absolute masterpiece compared to the trash of 2024. The one thing with 2024 that is really starting to annoy me is the constant flashing city lights shortly after takeoff and on approach. It completely ruins the experience for me.
I had such high hopes for the new sim, and if I’d have known it would have been this bad, I would never have bought it! They should have continued to optimise and improve 2020, as 2024 doesn’t even come close at the moment. I’m not sure that it will ever get to 2020 standards if I’m being honest.
I really am so annoyed and let down, and 4 free aircraft isn’t going to make up for it either!

MFS24 please can we fix the following:

Noticable river inaccaricies in world especially in New Zealand specifically in the Southern Alps. Appears a lot of rivers have straight lines it’s also noticable in other countries. If there is no fix is it possible to have a setting to turn off river water effects?

Also runway at McMurdo station in Antarctica is not accurate, should be considered a full runway as they land C17 and Boeing aircraft there.

Please remove trees from Antarctica!

Also sea ice is not accurate in areas in Alaska/Canada and Antarctica. Is there an option to remove this from the sim or update it to be more accurate?

Thanks so much, huge fan of the game. I was hoping this would be fixed in 2024 but nothing changed since 2020.

Apologies I couldn’t communicate this in any other way.

ms2024 brings us back to carboniferous period 350 million years ago
now we have too many trees everywhere , not very realistic
and impossible to view navaids frequencies on world map (as msfs2020)
those are 2 major bugs that make me go back to msfs2020, for a while …
I know there are many other bugs, hope Asobo will soon fix them

Actually a screenshot to show a bug that is still faulty. In fact, I wanted to write that now, for the first time, I have strong friezes. at the same time, the FPS is stable. But the picture is terribly frigid.I barely got to the parking lot and was afraid that I would crash.

IGN gave it a 9 out of 10 :rofl::rofl::rofl: What a joke.

Spoke too soon… still jerky. I am looking at cache right now.

First major patch is out, spot several bugs I’ve experienced myself in the patch notes, exciting stuff - “Alright, time to take to the skies!”.

Select the A330, press “F” to choose the variant, go for the -200 RR. Try to pick a livery - audio cuts off, CTD.

Yeah, folks, this game is still so unfinished Asobo might as well pay us for alpha-testing it.

Happens with Carenado Arrow which is now a variant under the Senecca (for me).
CTD. Worked fine before this patch.

Seems the poll is gone now, I guess we did had enough time to experience the new simulator.

Anyhow would appreciate at least some kind of comms regarding the next steps with clear timeline.
Maybe I am wrong but right now all we know is there will be a SU1 in Q1/25 and maybe some patches in between.
Does MS believe this is enough for the current state of the sim?

I’m sure I heard Jorg mention a beta flighting in January. Id need to go back and listen to the dev stream again.

Got it but in all fairness, do we need to watch every hour long stream to get some bits of information what might come?
One short slide with some key dates should not be asked to much.

I would guess something like

Patch 4 estemated for week …
Patch 5 estemated for week …
Patch 6 estemated for week …

SU1 Q1/25

It is no rocket science, surly MS must have some kind of plan for the next 3 month

It would definitely be good to have a written plan. But can you imagine an open beta right now. User input would hold it back until Q3 release.:joy:

 Agree. My primary fear is that we already have their plan.

SU1 in Q1/25 and nothing in between.

I am perplexed and interestingly curious at the wanna be pilots on YouTube who give their impression of how awesomely fantastic 2024 is…

Are they using a different version than us peasants o.n the ground?

I’m not expecting anything between now and January. Maybe there will be some small server side fixes in the interim, but January flighting beta for a Q1 patch sounds like what I’m expecting. I’m not even sure if the Q1 patch will include the Marketplace launch or not. Not sure how they are going to convince us to spend money there though given the issues we have had so far. We can’t even access our 2020 airports (to test them out) yet, and I can’t copy them over from FS2020 to try either - DRM is not my friend right now.

Yeah you might be right. I am happy to hear that you are at least able to take some flights.
I still get constant CTD about 99% of the time. Once in a while the sim give me the chance to do a flight. It is like playing the lottery.

I’ve been relatively stable (other than hangs while quitting a flight), but I am up to date with everything. Windows 11 24H2 + updates, NVidia latest driver. I do have 64GB RAM and 24GB VRAM (3090) though. I have seen refs on a thread here suggesting 32GB RAM may not be enough, which in iself is crazy, but I do remember seeing the slides on system specs and 64GB RAM was considered optimal. :eyes: :exploding_head:
