Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 v1.2.8.0 (Patch #4) Discussion

Totally nothing is changed with both DLL files replaced with the latest.
No performance change on two tests, no better sharpness, nothing!
It is nothing but hot air!

not clout chasing here. had studders after 1.2.7. redid my dlss and they werent as bad. just passing that on. YMMV. ive pulled my hair out with my 4070ti laptop trying to get flyable frames at decent quality in VR. ive tried everything, dont have the grunt to do the upscaling trick, have found the latest drivers is an easy start for me. I get this is frustrating and yes, its not optimized and yes, there is a problem both with the game and the communication from Asobo about it. But im trying to add what helped for me.

I had the last days after the patch some stutters and glitches, but now they are gone. Where they come from and why they are gone, i don’t know.
MSFS2024 is a mistery, some times refresh the rolling cache helped me.

Heathrow was fine for me also. Are you by any chance moving in and out of the menus? Because that is still a problem and worst in built up areas like airports.

Yes I noticed this too. Thanks :+1:

Have they been informed about the mouse problem? When do they plan to address it?

By fine you mean you can land at Heathrow , take off and circle around the airport without a stutter ?
For me it’s still stutter fest with last update approaching the runway, lifting of on takeoff …

Still crashes each time you exit free flight on XSX

I’ve yet to have a single CTD or VR graphical issues since launch. I’ve had the game running smooth using TAA in VR, DLSS Quality smooth too as a backup if TAA hiccupped after the toolbar pops up randomly and slows everything… yesterdays update, this update has ruined everything for me. TAA gives me 75% black screen in 2d and menu black flashes in VR, TAA is unstable now, and DLSS works but I get CTD in every few min without fail. No CTD since launch, about 16+ and counting since yesterday. I’d love to figure a way to roll back this update, this is frustrating. I’ve been enjoying this experience very much so… until this update. I’ve tried rolling back nvidia drivers thinkings this is a graphics issue… no luck. I have a powerful system. 14900k, 4090, 64 ddr5, m.2, quest 3, virtual desktop, 1gb internet.

Xbox X. I enabled many airports from my library and I made a flight from lgts to lgav (3rd party airports) with a320 from inibuilds. Everything was smooth. Don’t try to enable the corfu scenery (flytampa) if you don’t want to stuck at 97%

The game is slightly choppier for me since this patch. The blue pathway markers that won’t dissapear, are a good indicator. Also just panning around the cockpit has momentary freezing.

One flight is not a test but today it ran fine. PG was looking much better – almost as good as FS20 - but not quite.

I was really pleased to see the ability to enable my FS20 airports again. and hopefully there will stop being ā€˜airports only available for PC’. Or, at the evry least, all airports should have both versions.

Of all the PC only airports I have, Orbx’ Van Nuys is the one I miss most.

If you change the selected runway in the EFB, file that with ATC, and then go to the Comms window and choose the runway you want to land on through the interface, you should be able to land on the chosen runway without a penalty. Don’t use the quick comms button though, it will revert to the other runway. Once you’ve manually chosen the runway in the Comms window, you need to manually announce when on final to retain that chosen runway.

Very helpful when the runway that is selected in the plan has a tailwind. Adds to the workload of the pilot when trying to make a stabilized approach though.

Looks like a new bug in patch 4 of MSFS 2024 – contrails light up like there’s a light on them now.

A little later in my post that you quoted…

And I agree. But again, I didn’t intend on being a Beta Tester and having to explicitly explain workarounds for in game issues. I figure most people would be able to understand how to use the COM interface to request a different runway from their experience in 2020.

Also, it has been my experience in 2024 that you can request the appropriate runway, be cleared for the new runway, get all the visual prompts for the new runway by using the COM menu, and still be penalized for landing in an undesignated area.

My post was intended to suggest that the only way to be certain that compliance to landing on the ā€œmissionā€ runway is to sync them by re-filing the IFR route in the EFB that includes the change in runway.

If I could actually play this game more than 30% of the time I try to launch a flight, I would probably not be posting in the forums at all. I’d be flying.

I paid for an entertainment game - NOT to be pressured into being a Beta Tester (which we were all manipulated in doing so) to ā€œhelpā€ the developers identify gameplay issues by submitting tickets they should have already been aware of. 2024 was suppossed to have been an evolution, not a regression of their development experience with 2020.

We all paid for a finished game, what we all got was an early access game at best, and best of all, you are paying them to do the bug testing rather then them outsourcing that and giving us a better product.

I am not helping them with anything, I am not playing anything they ever made again. I have deleted 2020 and 2024. Let the charts show empty servers. Let them pay for those cloud servers to do NOTHING! The game is an absolute failure and deserves nothing from this community.

My negative review is permanent, I will never change it.

Because my CTD’s happen outside of 2024, I have to look elsewhere to find the cause of my issues. And although I am frustrated with MSFS 2024, it is still worth the few hours I’m actually able to fly within its World.

After trying and testing all my drivers without success, I suspect my Windows version to be a significant factor in my system instability. I am on 24H2 and have passed the 10 day reversion grace period. I’m going to have to ride this out. I don’t want to have to reinstall Windows again and go through a 3rd party to get the iso.

NOTE: In a similar fashion to the release of MSFS 2024, Microsoft released its operating system version 24H2 as incomplete and with serious flaws (specific to many gamers).

I wish I would have read the thread warning of this a month ago. I passed over it because Windows had not caused this significant havoc with my entertainment time before.

It appears that manipulating customers through marketing and releasing software in which people are expected to pay to ā€œparticipateā€ in their ā€œOpen Betaā€ is now established as standard Microsoft product release protocol.

I’m hoping on a Third Party Developer to fix the lights for most default aircraft.
I have made many tickets on zendesk about many aircraft lights not working correct.

I have seen aircraft with nav lights on the wrong side. Strobes flashing green & red from close up.
Landing, nav, strobes, beacon not visible during daytime (LED lights) it’s one big mess.
Not a single ticket I made is fixed yet.
