Now that these unfixed aircraft have made their way into the most expensive digital version of the sim, they are not only still bugged as they were in 2020 but they are now suffering from worse issues seeing as they haven’t even been updated for 2024 compatibility.
I won’t get into the ethics of this, but really, Microsoft, what is your update plan for earlier Famous Flyers and Local Legends?
You sold us many malfunctioning aircraft under the guise that we were buying a premium edition of the sim.
The 707 was the final nail in the coffin for me. I won’t be buying any more FF/LL addons since they receive so little support. And no, I didn’t t buy that dumpster fire.
FS24 has me rethinking my buying habits in this hobby in general, really.
I do hope that resources are invested in these addons once the sim is more stable.
I’m curious how the concept of plane “rentals” will impact all these planes. I bought Aviator so I have all the LL/FF, but I rarely fly them. So, if the next round comes and we can rent before buying, I hope that lowers the income to MS so they see how poor the quality continues to be in their products. Or, who wants to bet LL/FF won’t be rent-able? LOL.
I personally feel let down, by buying the aviator edition. Most of the extra planes dont have the full walk around facility/ door handle etc. Plus one aircraft doesnt even have a cockpit!
I’m not sure that scenario will be as common as another very possible one: a person thinks they will like a plane but are not quite sure, rents and really enjoys it, leading to a purchase. Or someone tries a plane they normally wouldn’t buy and are blown away, which can lead to purchasing more than just that plane since you start trusting the developer to bring the goods.
Providing a more affordable access to a developer’s work is a very good way to entice buyers. Got Friends’ freewares, PMDG’s less expensive 737-600, the free version TopMach F22 are applications of the same principle.
Besides, the guys who will look for any excuse to criticise and avoid a plane don’t need a rental to profess that opinion, right? Cheers
I can tell you that there’s a score of planes that I’d consider buying if I was able to test them out myself beforehand. Star counts on the marketplace are worthless. Reviews from randos (both here and elsewhere) are only slightly more valuable.
That said, you’re right that it’s a dumb idea for some developers to participate. The developers who produce great planes will benefit. But all of those who release garbage will suffer. No more non-refundable sales from the early adopters who’re like, “I’ll just take my chance that maybe this will be good!”
Could we please return this topic to that of the state of LL/FF and the need for their updating and Microsoft’s neglect of them, rather than a debate over the merits of rentals?
I 100% expected these planes to be updated to FS2024 native given that they are included with the top-end SKU of the simulator. I was shocked to see them in compatibility mode. Hopefully upgrades are on the long list of tasks to bring FS2024 up to expectations.
Hi, 4 months later now…
Any news about the FF/LL updated to FS2024?
The development blog updates don’t show any trace.
The V35B being fully compatible could well be a trigger for me to buy FS2024.
I had a whole diatribe written, but I changed my mind on posting it so I don’t get flagged. Everything that I can think of has already been said anyway.
The answer is the answer that Jorg gave in the Grand Canyon Influencer demos, They’re going to look at updating them eventually. It certainly won’t happen any time soon. Too much other work to do for the next few months at least.
