I bought MSFS2020 last week and put it on a brand new computer. There is nothing else on the computer and it is a gaming laptop with more than enough power to run the sim. It ran the sim perfectly with zero stutters for 5 days, then today I was forced to accept an update - USA Update. Now the sim runs with almost constant microstutters. The computer does nothing and has done nothing except MSFS2020, so the update is to blame. Any ideas on how to resolve this? If updates are going to reduce performance, then I will have to disable them and play offline, which seems to defeat the purpose of the sim. Thanks.
Today’s USA update screwed up a lot of things, unfortunately.
With regard to the stuttering, there seems to be a memory leak somewhere and 2020 will devour however much memory is placed before it, regardless. You’ll notice the stutters more when you restart a flight without restarting the sim.
It is better than it used to be but on takeoff and landing, unless you have flown the route before (rolling cache) you may well find the stuttering to be more obvious.
Restart the sim and fly the route again and you may find that the stuttering is either gone completely or at least reduced.
Hope this helps.
I never had stutter either. After the USA update, it stutters all the time, even after flying over the same region over and over. The sound also skips now and I have a problem with some aircraft not turning properly.
Good to know it’s not just me. I was sure the update was to blame because the computer is brand new and has done literally nothing but MSFS2020 and has only that sim on it so there’s nothing else eating up space. I’m hoping as the update has caused the problems, another update can fix them. In the meantime, thanks for the tips.
Same here. Asobo had pratically solved the stutter issue and now it is back. Só a annoying.
