Thank you for using the Bug section, using templates provided will greatly help the team reproducing the issue and ease the process of fixing it.
Have you disabled/removed all your mods and addons? If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the Community Support section.
No, I have hundreds. I wish there was a way to just disable them momentarily…
Brief description of the issue:
I’ll be in the middle of a flight and all of a sudden it just freezes until I force quit the simulator (sorry if this isn’t the correct place for this). Most of the time mid-flight. I usually always report with tracing but don’t know if it’s making a difference or being seen, really. Doesn’t matter which aircraft I’m using. This time I was flying from NZCH - NZMC
The Bug Reporting Hub is for posting suspected or confirmed bugs that other users are able to reproduce. Using the template is required in order to provide valuable information, feedback, and replication steps to our test team.
If you are not sure if your issue is a bug or need further input from the community, please use the User Support Hub category. If the community can replicate your issue, first search the Bug category to see if there’s an existing topic. If it already exists, contribute to that report. Duplicate bug reports will be closed.
If you believe it is a new report, then create a new bug topic using the provided topic template.
All issues caused by or involving third-party addons/mods should be reported to the third-party developer. Assure that no addons/mods are used when reporting issues in Bug Reports.
There are a couple ways to easily try with all your addons removed.
The first (and best) way is to start the sim in Safe Mode.
Stop the sim by using Windows Task Manager. When restarting select Safe Mode.
That loads the sim without any addons, including those from the Marketplace and all those in your Community Folder.
The second is to just rename your Community Folder.
Name it something like Community1.
MSFS will then create a new empty Community Folder when it starts.
When the test is over delete the empty one and rename the other back to Community.
This isn’t quite as effective a test, as the sim will still load addons from the Marketplace.
I’ve recently just had a huge breakthrough with freezes in VR, although it has translated to flatscreen as well. It was around how I had my USB devices setup.
First, I had to change all the USB devices and ports in device manager so that Windows couldn’t put them to sleep when it wanted to save power.
Then I looked up the make up of my mobo USB controllers to see which ports were using the same controllers and which would be best for my powered hubs. Basically an audit of my whole USB situation, which was a mess as I had been quite random in the way that I had plugged things in over time. This led to some big wins with some little glitches and freezes that I had always tried to fix with settings and endless videos and trial and error.
The other massive win was in VR with the Reverb G2. I discovered that the headset was trying to interact with various Bluetooth signals in my gaming room and it was wreaking havoc with stability, giving me giant freezes. Turned of all Bluetooth - problem solved!!!
Both of those things may not work, but I have been at this all year and in the end it turns out to be two relatively simple hardware related fixes that could have saved me a lot of time and money.
Don’t always assume it is the sim and NVCP. If your settings are set reasonably conservatively for your hardware, don’t get settings blindness and keep grinding away at them cos it might be something to do with some of the other links in the chain. It may be settings, think outside the box a bit and see what you come up with.
