Might be time to abandon MSfS

I’ve been thinking about what could be different between the experience me and my friends have had compared to the many citing bugs and issues making the sim ‘unpleasant’.
Are you guys using gigabytes of add-ons?
Have you tweaked the sim and it’s settings or just left it on a preset?
Are your specs able to handle a flight simulation (mostly looking at the cpu)
What planes do you fly? (Vfr/ifr)?

I’ve been doing long flights in the c208, bonanza and a320 and i fail to see the same level of frustration.
It can definitely be related to some variables that i don’t have and many others have, causing issues only for certain people, but i wonder if certain factors from my questions above come into play as well.
For the flaps issue, just get the flightsim.to add-on. Won’t fix all the plane’s but enough to wait under 2 weeks

Been simming since the early C64 and Spectrum days, this is my hobby.

All games, sims etc have issues in the beginning and tweaking is part of the PC sim experience/gaming, everyone knows that if you have been a PC gamer for 1 week.

MSFS is dependent on an eco system that is completely unnecessary. The Xbox gaming services.

Seriously, how many people on Xbox are buying an Xbox for flight sims given the current limiations on controls etc. Yes, it can be simplified to give a good experience but MS will eat this up.

For once, they decide to revive a franchise and make it all it can be but add the things that nobody asked for unless the sim actually works properly.

I spend money, it is my hobby! Spent money on FSX, moved to P3D then X-plane 11 and now MSFS. I have several add ons, the same ones, over multiple platforms.

So far I have spent about 150-200 dollars on airports that I like or other addons for MSFS.

This redicilous process of updates and ecosystem breakdown is reaching my boiling point. This sim can not continue with this process of updates. They spent countless resources on updating the scenary with the US, Japan and UK yet the sim still has major problems with systems and reocurring problems introduced with updates.

Who makes these redicilous decisions?

It makes no sense at all. The goal of this sim is Xbox One, clearly. Once it is released on Xbox you will see that the fixes will be less frequent and it will be, yet again, up to the community to fix what is broken.

Abandon MSFS? NEVER!
It is so brilliant. I cant’t understand the constant complaining. I have nearly 300 hours of flying, most with the caravan. A perfect aircraft to enjoy this simulator. I do missions for NeoFly, hundrets, and land on whatever so little airfields. At the moment in Scottland. The sim is improving constantly. All the peaks and funny pyramid mountains have gone. More and more airfields are improving. As for me,I never have CTD’s.
What I never do:

  1. Flying with airliners. They impossibly can be good! Think at the price of a PMDG Boeing!
  2. Using IFR flights with ATC. The built in ATC just makes me angry. I wait for ProAtc, they work on a MSFS version.
  3. Buying the Aerosoft CRJ before it really works! Already the version for P3D has been a constant
    fiasco during about one year.
I rather wait for Aerosofts Twin Otter. This aircraft has never made any problems. And it is the ideal aircraft to enjoy MSFS with all it’s beauty, moods and its thousands of little airfields to be discovered.

Edit - the fact my post was flagged is just sad!! I didn’t curse or insult anyone. There is ZERO reason my post should’ve been flagged and whoever did it should be embarrassed.

I only have one single add-on and that is the Airworthy Designs Saint Martin add-on. That’s it, zero others. No disrespect meant, but those of you that say, “Gee I have no problems whatsoever” are more likely just OK with everything. You guys are playing the same Sim as the rest of us and frankly I’m tired of hearing those that are honky dory commenting that all is fine. What about the terrain spikes after the Christmas update? You can’t say they didn’t happen on your machine, they affected everyone, you could simply do the Aspen landing challenge and see them. What about the noise in the clouds that came to be after their new TAA was introduced? You can’t say you didn’t see it and if you say you didn’t maybe you’re sitting back ten feet from your screen. What about the water creeping up the coastlines? Yeah if you only fly inland you won’t see it but it’s there along with the white triangles. Draw in still stinks and you can’t deny you don’t see objects drawing in all the time.

These things are real. If you don’t see them then you’re just fine with it and don’t care, it doesn’t mean somehow your system is immune. I’m an IT Tech for a living, over 22 years so I know how to properly build, configure, and maintain my machines. My flight sim machine is only used for simming. This latest Flaps and ground effect issue I noticed immediately within a couple of minutes playing after the update.

That and because MS wanted to charge a lot of $$$ via subscription for each add-on. Their funding model was crazy.

It’s still early days. The other flight sims have been developed over many years so it’s going to be a long process until things are a lot better. I personally won’t give up on MSFS, what I will do is use my existing established sim of choice and see how MSFS develops over the next year or two.

I think we were all expecting to much from the off, those videos showing the gameplay before release looked perfect, maybe to perfect and everyone figured MSFS would be a complete flight simulator upon release.

Give it time.

We want to make these forums a positive environment for you to discuss Microsoft Flight Simulator related topics, and to give us your feedback on the sim.

Recently the team has received a number of complaints about the negative atmosphere on the forums. These complaints stem from excessive negative non-constructive posts.

These posts do not provide meaningful information that helps in the development of the simulator. Instead, these topics are often duplicate an existing topic and create conflict that usual require moderator intervention. These posts hurt the atmosphere of the forums, which drives some of our community away and may prevent others from joining.

We value constructive criticism about MSFS as it helps the developers further understand, triage and resolve problems within MSFS.

Take the following example posts:

Non-Constructive
The ATC in this simulator is ■■■■

Constructive
ATC’s altitude instructions are awful. I was on a flight from KSFO to KDEN in an A320N, when ATC cleared me for descent below the minimum safe altitude. If I stayed at a safe altitude it would cancel my IFR clearance and my approach, so I followed their instructions leading to a crash on the side of a mountain.

ATC needs to take the terrain into account when issuing clearances!

The non-constructive example (top) provides no meaningful information, no one will be able to understand, reproduce or document the issue, and therefore the issue cannot be resolved.

We ask that you consider this going forward. We continue to welcome criticism and complaints so long as they are constructive in nature. You can read more about our policy change here.
