Migrated MSFS to new SSD, and now it seems to have a split install path?

I’m not quite sure how to better word the title, but here’s what’s going on.

For starters, the sim is working fine, but it doesn’t seem to know where it actually resides on my PC. Also, this is the Microsoft Store edition of the sim.

Here’s the situation:

I’ve had MSFS on my laptop’s main SSD. Just last night I added a larger, secondary SSD. I primarily got it to free up the space that MSFS was taking up. So, I moved the sim over to the new SSD. And just as it seemed to be finishing up, I got hit with this error message:

Here’s the weird thing, I can see that MSFS has indeed been moved to the new SSD. The folder is there and all of the data. And even though I got this message, Windows is still showing that the sim is now “installed” on Drive E and not Drive C (which is where it resided before). But, it gets weirder !

The original install on drive C still seems to be there (I saved the location of the data folder to the Quick Access menu in explorer) despite space being freed up! And when I go into the sim settings, go over to General and then Data, scroll down to the Rolling Cache Path, it’s still pointing to Drive C. BUT, I decided to delete the Rolling Cache file and it freed up space on the new Drive E!

Safe to say I’m dumbfounded by this. It’s as if the sim now lives on both drives. But it honestly is loading just fine.

I want to try deleting the folder in Drive C just to see what happens, but I also don’t want to mess this up entirely and then have to completely redownload and reinstall it again. Any ideas?

This is the sim’s “Packages” folder on Drive C.

Same folder, but also on Drive E. See, even the timestamp is the same, the number of folders and the data size.

It’s because some of the files r locked and u don’t have permission to move or open them. Happened to me. I tried to move to my new SSD. I UNINSTALLED and reinstalled to new location. Make sure in the settings u specify to have all content for the sim go directly to that drive. Just to be safe.

That seems like it could be the reason. But here’s the thing. When I initially installed the sim, it was on my regular hard drive. I then had Windows move it to the main SSD and that error didn’t come up. I also don’t think the files remained on my HDD. Only now when I move it to the new secondary SSD is this seemingly “clone” situation coming about.
