So far I thought every military airport is just treated as a normal civillian airport, so all parking spots are civillian ones like GA Small but now I have come across Ohakea Military Airport (NZOH) in New Zealand. This airport is one of the only military airports I have seen that actually have military parking spots, namely RAMP MIL CARGO and RAMP MIL COMBAT.
I searched multiple other military airports (Area 51, Whenuapai NZWP, Nellis Airforce Base KLSV, Rammstein Airforce Base ETAR, Skiaros AB LGSY, Yokota AB RJTY, Oakey YBOK and more) and so far only the military airports in New Zealand actually have military parking spots.
Has anyone else found military parking spots outside of New Zealand? And does anyone know why New Zealand has military parking spots while the majority of other military airports dont?
After going around the globe I couldn’t find another country that has military parking spots. Seems a bit weird to me.
I’ve found a few in the US, somewhere central but I forget. It should be in my LNM log though. I’m sure it was a civilian plus military airport. I remember seeing the red circles in LNM, and wondered what they were.
I found one, but I don’t think it is one I have visited before: Charleston AFB/Intl (KCHS)
here in sky harbor where i live it has military parking spots idk about in flight sim but it does for real
there is a wing of KC-135s (refuelers) based at sky harbor so my guess is the airports with spots for military aircraft has some sort of air force or ANG wing probably for support aircraft for the US military to maintain a global presence and air dominance we have to have refueling wings strategically placed all over the globe and we cant always have an entire air base for them
Hmm that’s interesting. I wonder how the game decides what parking spot will be declared military. Especially seeing that many airports that have AB or military in their name don’t have military parking spots.
now that you brought that up im gonna start checkin out bases in flight sim that ive been to like davis monthan ,luke ,mcchord,whiteman, anderson in guam, offut formerly home of stretegic air command, ,Ellsworth,Osan, Rammstien and ive never been there personally but my grandfather was stationed there when it still belonged to the US Thule air base in greenland (i thinked he ■■■■■■ off someone to get sent there)
