Milviz 80-R-72 WIP Previews

 Sad, but understandable news for us who have been part of the project.

Their reputation as smart businesspeople who will still be around to support their products in the future?

It make zero sense to compete with an MS-released plane unless that plane has a really wide appeal.

And you can get to market first.

Sad news but I understand, I was probably gonna buy this one. I say probably because we see the A310 is a great ‘free’ product from MS/Inibuilds. Although from another developer I think the MS ATR will also be great.

I think a little market research could’ve prevented this. Now where did I mention no one is making a Dash 8…

Oh yes, that would be awesome, especially the -100

I was really looking forward to it. Now we might never see a “study level” atr. My hopes for the ms one are low. I think it will be closer to the CRJ rather than the fenix a320 or the pmdg 737.

So it would have taken another year and the 3D model was not good enough. The decission is then understandable. It would only make sense to keep with the project if you could release BEFORE Asobo, but since that is not the case…

While competition is always good it is important to know when you cannot compete and focus on other projects, wish you the best guys.

Don’t want to contribute to too much thread drift, Majestic are bringing their Q400 though.

Sad about the 80-R though a sensible decision. We possibly have already one too many Bell 206 so hopefully each developer there can make enough of a return to make their project worthwhile.

Had to say… along with the chane of name regarding the milviz ‘cessna’ C310, the title change of this thread along with the statement a few posts above from crazycolin saying it wasnt though humor… reading between the lines, my heart did sink a little and had that feeling that with Asobo getting exclusive rights to the 80-R-72 around the same time, this wasnt looking good… I wont be jumping onto the ATR straight away especially if its payware… and see how that goes… especially with the history and being such a high spec aircraft with RNP ratings…

I just hope you guys at milviz…

Put all of that effort from the 80-R-72 into a top
A++++ class 737-200 and with that spare time, even look to having a few variations regarding, at least my local Air NZ 737-200 hushkits, a QC variant and because the 737-100 was so similar, I hope you guys could look into that as an option… even implement that same modding in the C310 and have aging effects and what not…

P.s…

Please include an Air NZ livery… or even just as good. . NAC livery… one of the very first operators of the 732… pay homage to the strong history of boeing in NZ

I was looking forward to this study-level ATR and was never going to buy the Hans/ Asobo ATR as it won’t be the same level of depth. Plus the Hartman / AS CRJ with it’s half-baked features and lack of bug fixes and updates doesn’t bode well for this ATR, I don’t like his work and don’t trust them either.

Bad choice by blackbird IMO, you could’ve gone steam gauge / older ATR vs. the new glass cockpit model and with the study level depth had a great product that could’ve blown Hans / MS ATR away. Hell, you released a PORTER with 2 other companies making one at the same time, and saw no issue with that? Just my 2 cents.

Well this is not 100% true, Majestic is working on the dash 8 but it takes time…

Sad news, but I can understand…

Maybe there is market for both, if the Hartman implementation is not particularly deep (I hope that´s what “on hold” means).

I think many of us would pay for a deeper model. There is also a very nice and free A320 out there, and I´m sure Fenix sold a few of their A320 CEOs. I was in the waiting line for your model even with the freeware version in the horizon, and I´m sure I was not the only one.

If the ATR is dead anyway, you may consider a fast and simple project that can be ready in a couple of months. Namely a study level A350… I´m sure there is a market for those. I´ll take three. (I know, I know… I had to try…).

To be clear, we never said (or even know) that the MS version will be freeware. We don’t know.

to add to that, MS have stated their ATR will be payware in various dev streams.

Fair point.
I did not know that.

[EDIT]

But then, if quality is good enough, there is more room for another ATR, since you are not competing with something “free”, where you can not match the price…

I guess that “on hold” makes sense.

I can understand their hesitation. All famous flyers/local legends have been around the 15 dollar price point up to now (price kept low due to MS footing part of the bill). The ATR will be more expensive (at least, that’s the current expectation), but will likely still be ‘sponsored’ by MS, so it’ll be hard to compete, even with payware. But I guess that’s why they had that caveat of re-evaluating after their version releases.

As Colin said, they’ll revisit the project when they reassess the market after the release of the Hartmann version. Until then, there’s no point in throwing good money away on a potential loss. MSFS is going to be around for a long time. IF they come back to it, they’ll have learned that much more, and might even have that much more tech that can be used in the ATR at zero to less cost. Plus they’ll be able to target their product to take advantage of what was left out of the other product (if anything) and improve their potential sales.

It is believed and things have been written but never confirmed it will actually come to FS2020. As far as I know they’re still rumours based on another sim that they will bring it to FS. With that knowledge someone else could’ve brought it to FS2020, it will take at least a year but I suspect how things are going it will be years before we’ll actually see a proper Dash 8. I’m not saying Milviz can do it or could’ve done it.

Cool, my understanding was the 400 was in the same stage as the other variants. In that case this would almost be the same scenario for Milviz as with the MS ATR. Although I think it still might take 1-2 years before we will see the Q400 in FS2020.
