I need your help.
During the last update my computer had crashed. Since the next lunch I get the message of missing packages which are essential to run.
I tried some from previous posts:
- tried to repair by using the x-box app
- tried to update over x-box app
- delete the fs-base-history package:
afterwards the sim starts and I can select “update later” but do not know, whats do to next. The next lunch results in the missing package state again.
- update all packages in the content manager
I hope there is a way out..

unfortunately, also deleting the wgs folder does not fix this issue.
Is there any way to repeat the last update?

You might try going to: Settings / Apps / Installed Apps / Microsoft Flight Simulator / Click the 3 dots / Advanced Options / Click the “Repair” button.
Try again.
Step One:
navigate to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Packages \Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore
Step Two:
Look for the folder fs-base-history. It is small…under 10MB. DELETE IT.
Step Three:
Launch the game. It will ask to to re-download the deleted folder. Go ahead, update.
Step Four
And this is important. When asked to update. Choose Install Later.

Hi There All.
Well this works fine for me for the moment. Do not got the horrifying dialog with “You are missing Essential …”
I DO NOT WANT TO REINSTALL that takes days. I am soon very tired of all technical issues with MSFS. Have reordered MSFS 2024 but maybe i done a misstake. Perhaps XPLANE instead. Do someone know if this is more stable than MSFS. Give me an Advice. My use of MSFS is just to fly small planes and watch the world around.

I lied It does not work.
Instead it was (not frozen but did not continue when the loadindicatior was in bottom)
And must admit that I press Update in the frame where you should in earlier advice Step Four - Say Choose Install Later.
Well there was no option like that - just a option to Update.
I am f-n rired of this product now. I know that I am a person that should use MSFS bcs. I am flying VFR and small planes. The graphics should be bad in XPlane. Maybe I will do a reinstall tonight instead - but I am not happy with all problems I have had. Insert MSFS Disk … and more ■■■■. Start up that do an initiation every time in 6 step and now this.

Install the mandatory update, it’s just an 8MB update, but it is required, it is not optional.
OK just what i did - and after that was stucked in the status in the loading.
See 2 attachment above. I let it be there for 2 hours before I close the window.
Then at next startup I again get the dialog that say “You are missing…”
I have tested the sequence in msg 5 above 3 times and first the message is not appear - but the load is hangs. as in message 6 above.
Then I goes to the Settings and Apps and Microsoft Flight Simulator and try to repair. Nothing changes.
Took backup of my Community folder and try Reset.
At startup. At restart of MFSF now all my package 213 GB was downloaded and now when the MSFS is started up as it should again - I am in Content manager and are for the moment downloaded all not installed contents.
I really hope that it will work now and that I not lost anything of my settings for my yoke and pedals and general settings.
For the moment 13 GB is loadaded of 132 GB in content manager.
Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Just want to say that now is my MSFS up and running again. As I said earlier I made a Reset in Windows Setting / Apps / Microsoft Flight Simulator / Update or something ..
Overall tha reinstall took 6 hours and I have a download rate varying
from 50 - 200.mbits/s
All my achivements was there and my joke throttle and controller was in place
some settings was updated. F.ex I have no cache but the installation added a cache of 8 GB - I ofc removed it.
Most of the settings for flight model was reset to default.
I have to add all my settings I want to have - most of them to hard but some I love to have - f.ex Taxi ribbon. and AI-Communication. Nice to have a copilot that takes care of the radio I think.
But I must say - It have happen so many times now that it hassels that I have a nerveous time every time I start up MSFS. I close my eyes and hope that I not will see a bad bad dialogbox that tells me that it is not working.
But XPlane have to wait I will give MSFS a new chance and hope I will have many many more hours of enjoy all over the world

This has happened to be me lots of times after a windows update.
Oh My Godness. This is happened again.
I have just decided to let MSFS 2024 get in rest for a while - while hopefully the most of bugs will be corrected.
I have so much problem with buttons that do not work and more in my planes in MSFS 2024.
So I decided to go back to MSFS2020. Well there the magic button occurs again.

Well just gone to reset in the Windows app - settings as I did last time and then load all from beginning again.
For the moment 8% installed.

This has happened to me over ten times and each time the only solution was a complete vanilla reinstal/ and despite all the bull about renaming community etc/I had to basically reinstall my hundreds of addons one at a time each time. I have invested so much into this sim, there is NO Working fix that I have found/ tickets to support just yield cut and paste suggestions “have you tried” etc and then finally / try re/installing vanilla
its a total discrace…,so i bought 2024 thinking/take all that ■■■■ onto your server and you handle updates…
2024 total bug nightmare, marketplace dead, compatabilty of 2020 addons assurance was a lie and ■■■/Obo and MS hace my money and I have as broken 2020 and support that cant solve the problem and an unuseable streamed less than beta toy…
I would live someone to have a £Missing essential packages fix that works and became my overnight hero!

This works but I gotta do this EVERY SINGLE TIME before booting the sim. That is still fine by me what I dont understand is after doing this procedure I enter the sim and my ILS approach can’t be selected anymore nor can the arrival or departure be set. It says direct arrival and automatic approach and you can’t select any. amazing game can’t get enough of it ALSO REINSTALLING THE ENTIRE GAME (INCLUDING APPDATA ROAMING ETCETC..)DOSEN’T WORK I TRIED IT TWICE
MISSING ESSENTIAL PACKAGES - Yet again. . this is the second time on my new PC .. if I uninstall and download the whole thing again it work great . . then the same old error . if I delete the little file .. it starts to load then gets stuck . .
Is there a permanent fix anywhere , I am not going to have to reinstall every time I want to use it
