Really pleased how keen the community have been to get started with VFR! I’m just flying a lesson in VR and it works great.
I’d say it’s the initial / logical move to get started in aviation in general. Learn VFR first and then jump into IFR - especially for newbies like me
Don’t want to de-rail the thread but what’s your VR setup?
It’s a Rift S powered by a 2080.
Not bleeding edge but performs well! Refresh rate of the G1000 is a bit low, but steam gauges like the C152 is a brilliant experience and really took me back.
VFR is out now!
Out on SimMarket right now, coming to FlightSim and Aerosoft soon after, Marketplace early 2021 expected:
See here for support:
Looking forward to hearing about your experiences!
Happy Landings
Hi, sorry for bugging. Is there any estimate for when it will be available at marketplace (like in a week, in a month, or in a year)?
Hi,
“Early 2021” is what Microsoft told me.
I have contacted them since but didn’t get a reply, so that’s all I have for now!
Just bought. Looking forward to flying tonight.
Fantastic! Do let me know what you think!
Now available on FlightSim.com
Also, one thing I wanted to mention: I had multiple requests to provide a transcript for IFR to help non-native English speakers.
VFR has been made with full subtitles from the start, so you get a real-time caption for all points of every mission, something I’d like to bring to IFR in time also.
I hope this helps!
Hi, I have purchased your IFR FS Academy product. Is there a way to turn on the English subtitles during the lesson?
Edit: Hmm, the subtitles were off in lesson 1, but when I taxied to the runway, the subtitles appeared on. Very weird.
Hi, yes it’s shown in the support page.
They’re in your settings and will appearvat the bottom of the screen to summarise your instructions.
Hi there,
Oh ok It seems that you got them working!
Not sure why the first lot didn’t appear, but you should be good to go now
I always had subtitles turned on. I had them turned on since I flew the original tutorials. But in the first few minutes of lesson 1, there were no English subtitles. I alt-tabbed out of the game to check the internet with my browser, and when I alt-tabbed back into the game, and taxied to the runways, the subtitles appeared again.
Strange! Although MSFS can behave in some ‘unique’ ways!
I’ve also found that text can be streched if not in a Maximised window
Hi All!
Happy Christmas to everyone in our little corner of the forum. It’s been a pleasure to hear your thoughts and experiences with the mission packs.
Best wishes,
David
It looks like you became really good in creating such kind of missions (I guess you are now the only person who did it in such great quality). Please consider creating classic PPL course from top to bottom. FSX had one but there is no any available right now in MSFS.
Hi,
Thanks a lot for your feedback, It is always appreciated and encourages my work!
VFR is close to a full PPL, missing elements were difficult to implement in a satisfying way, such as stalling.
I’m glad you’re impressed by the quality of my work. Happy Holidays
Hi David,
I’ve heard nothing but great things about the IFR set, so I waited for the VFR missions to come out and I grabbed both of them. I’m coming to MSFS as a brand new user and someone who has no RL flight experience, so I’m trying to soak up info like a sponge.
I’m impressed with all the info in the ground school manual for VFR (not trying to get too far ahead of myself), and the first mission was very thorough, but I’m having a lot of trouble with the second mission. As I said, I’m no expert, but I have a good handful of hours in the sim already and fairly familiar with the principles of landing. That said, the mission continuously goes off the rails for me once I get to the car factory (which building it is still eludes me). I’m traveling at 100kts at 1400ft per the previous instructions, and after completing the orbit the instructor tells me to head east and will tell me when to turn to the base leg.
The instructions never come; both times I’ve begun descending to 1100ft as instructed and trying to maintain 100kts (learned this the first time), but the two or three missions I’ve tried it, that’s been it. I’ll end up extremely east of the airport without ever being told to turn back in. The last time I attempted it, after giving up, I turned west myself and came in straight to the runway. It triggered while going westbound, so I had to quickly turn to get back to what I was supposed to be doing, then it had me turn south and start slowing down and adding flaps. Trying to cram all of that into that tiny base leg again had me decently south of the airport with no instructions to turn into the final approach, so again I just headed for the airport myself.
I did get the trigger for flaring just before landing, and the mission seemed to end normally, but between completing the orbit and the flare there was a lot left as an exercise to the reader. I’m not sure if it’s a me problem or a mission problem.
Hi there,
Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like you are not finding the correct Car Factory VRP and therefore your turn is not made in the right place for the next step.
There is a map provided in the manual and a picture of the factory. Its the very large, flat white complex just north of the airport, as the in-mission voiceover explains.
Have a look in the manual where this waypoint is displayed clearly and perhaps Google Earth for familiarisation.

Hi, thanks for the thoughts.
I’ll take a look at Google Earth, but I have the manual open right next to me on my Surface for reference while doing this. I’m getting the instructions to turn left to H90 to go parallel to the runway, so I thought I was approximately in the right position.
