Yes, I understand. @TonyCowboysFan said mixture used to work on the 152 and 172, so I assume it still does. I’m not aware of mixture getting disabled on any planes. That’s why I suggested checking the automixture setting. But on other airplanes (the Baron G58, for example) automixture is baked in.
That’s the first thing I checked. Any chance you could test and see if you’re getting the same results? It’s strange. I checked auto-mixture and restarted game and results were the same. I climbed to 7000’ on full mixture with zero reduction in performance (in the 172 I am looking at the fuel flow) and that’s never happened before in this game or in FSX. I’m sure if I call my pilot buddy, he’ll tell me that’s also not right although I have to admit when I’ve flown with him I’m not 100% positive I’ve seen him lean the mixture as we climbed. I will try again today and also remove any mods I have as well. But I’m curious if others have this issue.
Mixture never behaved this way before. Have you ever flown single engines in this game? Just curious. It’s never been baked in before. Not in this game or in FSX.
I did some basic testing yesterday with the 152 and I don’t think I saw any RPM rise while on the surface (900ft), I did have to lower the mixture quite a bit to get an RPM drop, something like 40% or less. Wasn’t a very scientific test though.
I haven’t tried the baron but the 152 and 172 mixture also do nothing until cutoff. And this wasn’t the case before the last update.
Specifically was talking about the Baron and the SR22. I created this thread lol of course I’ve flown single engines…
The 152 and 172 do something before cutoff - fuel flow visibly decreases and performance does seem to increase from what I can tell.
Thanks for the reply. Should I create a new post for the 152 & 172? Because I tested just now and it cannot be correct. Full mixture until about 8000’ results in same performance as sea level.
I created this thread to speak about all mixture issues. Someone else said that these issues could be fixed by turning off automixture. I was responding to them when I said that the SR22 / Baron had baked in automixture. That wasn’t what the entire thread is based on.
There are still issues. It’s not perfect. Definitely better than it was though having to lean for takeoff at sea level to get a full fuel flow…
I feel like all the attention is on airliners, some of this stuff is really ruining the GA experience and needs to be addressed.
Please fix the mixture it’s really bad.
I feel like mixture effect got nuked. Even in 172 and XCub whereas before I’d REALLY feel the difference in mixture settings above 4,000 or so, now it doesn’t matter what I set, it all performs the same. Does anyone else feel this way?
No, I’ve only felt a change in very high mixture settings (the 90%-100% range can now be used), but below that it is same as before as far as I can tell. Make sure “automixture” is off ? It never happened to me but some people seem to have their settings changed when there is an update.
Yeah, my automixture is off. Everything is in “hard mode”… Strange.
I never understood why this sim seems to produce different experiences for different users. Oh well.
I observed the same behavior. On the Cessna 152, even with “auto mixture” setting to “off” changing the mixture does not have any impact. The engine RPM does not change at all even at 6000 ft.
Voted and following.
Exactly the same issue here. It wasn’t like this at launch. Last update broke mixture in 152 & 172 (the only aircraft I have tested).
Same issue here.
Still broken on the Barron, and they more-or-less damped the effect of it to the point where only extreme adjustments now matter.
Very much not fixed.
Appreciate the updates here on this issues - making sure Devs are aware.
Thanks Jayne! :))
