Hello,
Until recently, i was happily flying with my MS FF Sidewinder until the Z axis started going sketchy. Before i could get around to looking at it, it was thrown away because, “i thought it was broken?” #fml
Suffice to say i got a Thrustmaster Airbus and it’s not bad, but the more i use it, the more i realize i really liked the sidewinder and would prefer it if i had a choice.
The MS stick had powered force feedback servos, instead of springs and if you moved your hand away from the IR sensor, it would cut power to the servos and the stick would just flop over. I am in a power wheelchair and don’t have a surplus of upper-body strength, so when i would get tired of fighting the servos, i would modify my grip and it would float freely, which until recently was an underappreciated “feature.”
The TCA obviously has springs so there is no way to arbitrarily turn the centering on and off. I would settle for weaker springs to help with fatigue but haven’t seen any ways of modifying these ones that I’m willing to try.
I’d be down to replace them but i have no idea how to find a suitable substitute (or range of substitutes to experiment with).
Does anybody have any clues where to start?
Thanks,
