Hello all, really loving the Mooney. The only thing I’m noticing is that there is a substantial FPS drop when nav/taxi/landing lights are turned on. Anyone else? I go from an avg. 27 FPS to an avg. of 20-22. Which is not really playable when I use headtracking. Any fixes? I’ve opened a ticket with Carenado, no response yet.
I don’t have the FPS counter on when I fly, but I haven’t noticed any loss of performance while flying the Mooney with nav lights on/off. Fun plane! Sorry you are experiencing a loss in performance.
Depends on what your normal FPS is. If you get 40 and it goes down to 30, then you probably won’t notice anything. However 30 down to 20 is noticeable, so it may be more noticeable on my end due to my usual performance.
I haven’t experienced fps loss when the lights you mentioned are turned on. But it’s the ‘recognition’ lights that take around 6-7 fps away from the sim. Some have said that the lights in Carenado’s aircraft aren’t as optimized as they should normally be. May be we should let Carenado know about it: https://carenado.zendesk.com/hc/en-us
Also, a few things are now broken in this aircraft after the latest MS/Asobo update.
CDI bar on the HSI not correlating with the GPS. I have tried a few flights, and I can not get any deviation to show on it. So basically, HSI doesn’t sync with GPS when CDI set to GPS (even thought HSI featured in PA44 does has GPS marking inside HSI gauge). Plenty of people are having this same issue.

Also the outer ring (where you have the degree numbers printed) of the Garmin CDI device (located to the left of the Turn indicator device) doesn’t move at all when you rotate the OBS knob. It’s almost as if it’s totally inop.
Another user has reported that “Carb heat on/off no change in revs, Magnetos on/off no change in revs” – @Gerardgeek
And I’ve seen another report where someone reported that ILS glideslope wasn’t working as expected.
Right, I was trying to narrow down which light it was. Seems to be recognition, as well as taxi/landing for me. This is what Carenado responded:
So I guess it’s up to them now.
Wow thanks for this mate!
I flew the mooney for the first time in a few weeks and my usually stable 35 fps @1440p was mid-low 20’s.
I checked all settings and just couldnt work it out, in the end i just shut my computer off i was so frustrated thinking it was just another asobo error.
I can live without the mooney, thanks for this i will return to the sim tomorrow.
EDIT : Back on the sim today with the fantastic Piaggio and a stable 35ps over London. Good stuff
I‘ve already contacted carenado one month ago twice about this issue, mooney and seminole.
The only thing they wrote back was to reinstall the aircraft again
.
Doesn‘t help.
They should use the microsft light system, not their own.
One thing that helped for me was to shut of the lightrails in the graphic menue.
This issue was confirmed long time ago. Same problem is with CT182
Btw when you disable Light Shafts = no fps drop
