More Transparent about Future Marketplace releases!

I cant stress out as Xbox user how frustating it is to wait every week for Marketplace update and to get always dissapointed bcs there is No information about upcoming releases on Marketplace.

For example the Developers from the c414 posted on their discord, that their plane finished testphase and is ready for release in Xbox/pc Marketplace. This Post was for 3 weeks and still no release in Marketplace. Why Microsoft holds it Back. The Developers dont have also more information. We all wait. I Wish Microsoft would give more information about upcoming releases.

My understanding, from reading posts over the past year, is that your question can be answered with just one word. :

BACKLOG

(Sometimes a Picture is worth 3000 backlogged words)

you seem to make 2 assumptions that are simply not correct

  1. That MS has Any control over when/how 3rd party developers Release 3rd Party Software
  2. That they (ms) holds up the process for no real reason

i get that many 3rd party devs suggest exactly that to cover their own delays, but think about it …
ms Wants these addons on the Marketplace as much as your do, they make some small profit for them being there, they will do w/e they can to get them there for that profit (it is a business after all)

as for backlog? thats odd considering the only review is that it meets the ā€˜specified format and size requirements’ - ie if the addon is correct it will get in, they dont do any kind of quality testing at all, they just make sure it is in the right format
the plain truth of the matter is none of the big flight sim devs have Any experience modding for xbox
this leads to delays and growing pains that devs dont care to experience, many just dont bother
so you have lots of devs making pc only addons that clog up the entry into the marketplace for the few that do make xbox campatible stuff
aircraft specifically take too long to create to claim some 2+ week delay at the end for validation is a problem - that should be figured into the release date by the dev before hand
unless of course it fails, then you have a major delay since it has to be fixed and then they re apply and the process starts all over

I also thought why ms should hold their releases but if you think about it there is a reason.
I noticed Special last month we have every week a highlight plane for example the rv14 from sws, than v35 Bonanza, than junker and last Pilatus pc12 from Carenado. They would loose Money if they would release all plane together.

Why is the c414 not on Marketplace yet ?

I want more information about upcoming planes on Marketplace.

Can someone tell me what planes are coming this month on Marketplace for Xbox/pc ?

When MSFS first released, up until the XBox release, they only had 1 person doing QA and putting products in the store. The maximum amount of products that could be added or updated was only around 10 a week. Once XBox released, now there were a lot of products that could be released to XBox (but had to be done separately since they have to be tested for XBox). To make matters worse, that was the infamous SU5 which then sparked off a whole constant iteration of developers having to release patched products. All of that held up the glow through, and things got backed up to almost a 4 month wait time for releases. So they hired 4 more QA people. So now they can get about 50 additions/updates a week done. But keep in mind, if a product releases for both XBox and PC, then that is two spots.

Now I know people say they don’t really do any testing, but they do. They fire up the addon. They check to make sure it meets product guidelines (like does the plane have any weapons on it), they make sure it has no viruses, they make sure there isn’t code that is constantly reaching out across the internet in an unexplained way. Where there have been mistakes in the past, XBox testing is actually done on a PC using an XBox emulator, but that was allowing WASM to run, whereas on a real XBox WASM could not run at all.

So at one point, backlog had gotten back down to about a week again. But there are lots of products lately being released. If the volume each week goes up and stays there, I’m sure they will hire more people to get the backlog back down.

I don’t think there’s currently a ā€˜backlog’ of planes.

Most more complex planes require WASM to be implemented for XBox properly. That is scheduled to come out with Sim Update 11. So until that time, whenever third parties release aircraft that don’t require WASM will just be added when they’re released (generally on the thursday marketplace update).

Once SU11 is released, it will likely take those developers some time to implement it, and release.

Other than the SU11 WASM release for XBox, there’s really nothing MS/Asobo can do / know about third party releases.

I would be surprised if MS put anything else up on the MS-Marketplace, untill it is ā€œFIXEDā€ and made secure again. :hear_no_evil:
