Most sound lost if I turn off screen and back on again

Are you on Xbox, Steam or Microsoft Store version?
MS Store

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?
No

Brief description of the issue:

If on a long flight I might walk away and turn off my screen for a while. On return, I’d turn my screen back on and audio would continue to play (screen is a TV so using internal speakers).

However, since SU8, on turning the screen back on, there is no sound from the sim at all except for avionics tones, e.g. AP disengage, stall horn. Tried droping out to menu and back, changing sound sources etc. Audio from PC is audible from YouTube, music, test tones etc.

It is like the sim just gives up sending all audio except avionics. Restarting the sim fixes the issue.

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue: 1.23.12.0

Here too, using the LG Monitor sound output for an external speaker. When the monitor was turned off and then on again, the sound is off, only clicks on gauges are audible.
Workaround for me as well:… restart the Sim!! :frowning:

Build Version: 1.23.12.0 (SU8)

Same for me

Seems to be some mixed general sound issues post su8.
For me it’s losing the comms channel (used for atc)

edit for clarity;
Comms sounds work fine, and my selected device remains as set, no matter how many different flights.
However, on restart of msfs, I have to resave my selected device.
options>sound>comms device: click on my selected device( which still shows the correct device )
then click save and it’s fine until the next restart.

It was appened to me a couple of times switching view cockpit-drone, I don’t remember well but, after many attempts, it seems to me that with ESC and come back solved the problem.

Same problem here. My setup is a Gigabyte G27Q monitor connected to a AMD Radeon 6800xt using DisplayPort with headphones connected to the monitor.

If I turn the monitor off or switch to another input all aircraft and ATC audio stops working. Menu ‘clicks’ still audible. Windows audio troubleshooter finds no problems, windows audio test sound plays, YouTube via chrome also works. So it seems to be a bug with MSFS.

In the MSFS Sound options if I set Main Device Output to System’s Default Device and Comminication Device Output to Digital Audio (S/PDIF) I can hear ATC but nothing else including menu ‘clicks’.

The only way to get all the audio back seems to be to restart the Sim.

After SU8, if I turn off my blue tooth speakers and turn them on afterwards, all sim sounds remain muted. No sounds what so ever. Tried all kinds of kinds of walk arounds, but still no sucess… any ideas?

Try to pull your HDMI cable, wait a few seconds and plug it back again.
Worked for me.
