I recently purchased FS2024 and I can’t seem to find a way to move or shift position to see parts of the cockpit better. In 2020, when I needed to be able to see the upper panel or center pedestal I was able to use the arrow keys to move around the cockpit, or even crab through the cabin.
Is this possible in 24? I need to be able to “lean” so-to-speak.
Maybe. I’ve been searching for a cut and dry answer for 2 weeks and can’t seem to get one. Shift and WSAD doesn’t do anything. That’s for sure. 10 posts into that thread, there’s a potential solution. I’ll dig into it. Thanks.
Use 2024 transversal keyboard. If you change bindings, make double sure you set keyboard to 2024 transversal each time before making a copy of sim bindings for your use with yoke or throttle or cameras.
Increase cockpit view height = cursor up
Decrease cockpit view height = cursor down
Translate cockpit view forward = right ALT & cursor up
Translate cockpit view backward = right ALT & cursor down
Translate cockpit view right = cursor right
Translate cockpit view left = cursor left
I use the same key combinations to control the aircraft position in slew mode - I find that works well.
OK, that’s my confusion then. I’ve left the 2024 settings default, so I’ve been learning the new keybinds. Now I’m in a spot where I don’t remember the old or the new ones
Just for clarity, this is the default 2024 cockpit translation keys:
Okay, now we’re getting somewhere! I tried the 2024 controls and the SHIFT+WSAD is doing exactly what I want! I figured out early, if I wanted things to feel closer to 2020, use the 2020 keyboard. Way more familiar controls. I’d rather not re-learn a new set of bindings but, that’s my problem. I appreciate your help!
I used this format in the 2020 keyboard and it worked. I did notice it doesn’t work exactly like it did in 2020. To “slide” left and right, you need to right click the mouse and look the opposite direction at the same time. Otherwise you just spin in a circle. So, it works but, it’s not ideal. Must be just the difference between 20/24? Regardless, we’re on the right track. Thanks!
It’s a legacy keyboard. You may find the aircraft in 2024 may need to have individual settings. They have, for the bravo anyway, got a set of standard functions that work in the easier aircraft. Then there is the Youtube vids you can use to set up a standard bindings for single prop, 2 engine jets, 4 engine jets and so on. Takes a bit of fiddling in the beginning but is worth it.
The 2020 legacy mode works mainly with the aviator planes
Well, I think the main argument is that it was configured with the new 2024 features in mind. Walk-around mode being one of those items. There was no character in 2020 that needed to walk around, crouch, interact, etc… so I would guess you can’t do those with the 2020 legacy settings.
I eventually just decided to embrace the 2024 interaction modes, even if they were changed (accidentally or on purpose) from 2020. Mouse clicks in the cockpit interaction system changed, walk around mode added, different camera keyboard shortcuts… I just bit the bullet and left 2020 in the past rather than keep trying to find way to shoehorn it into 2024.
