MS Store Clean install - lost entire logbook and career?

Following a recent rebuild I performed a clean install of MSFS2020 onto an alternate drive (Drive D:\MSFS2020). Initial launch proceeded OK but after updating followed by a restart I was presented with a clean, new user, screen. Entered my original credentials and game launched, with no historical profile or controller data:-(

I lost 200+Hrs of logbook entries and all my controller settings, any ideas on how I may recover at least the log book data?

Sorry that I didn’t see this one sooner! All of that information is stored in the cloud and it seems that your PC just has a problem communicating to the cloud or writing to the local usercfg file.

Make sure the Xbox Services are running automatically.

  • In the Windows search bar, type “Services
  • Select “Services
  • Scroll down to the bottom. Double-click on each entry for Xbox and make sure none of those services are not disabled or set to manual. Set everything to “Automatic”.

For the usercfg.opt file, you do not need to change it. Just make sure that it is not read only.

  • Find the config file “UserCfg.opt”
  • Right-click on UserCfg.opt
  • Select Properties > General tab
  • Uncheck Read-only

Checked all the above and everything was OK. The system created a new profile at the time I encountered the issue which is why I lost all the log book entries and controller profiles.

My ID tag has not changed but I currently only have a few hours flight time recorded.

Also, the XBOX app shows I have over 850hrs ‘in game’ which is correct; although only 200hrs of that is within FS2020.
