Yeah- I was going to do this but didn’t end up doing it for the marketplace stuff because of the encryption, so I figured it wasn’t of much use to me. I just noted which airports I had purchased and then uninstalled the game.
Yeah this definitely isn’t true- I’d say about 80% of my MSFS 2020 marketplace airport purchases are showing and working within 2024. However, there’s a few specific airports that I’m not able to enable even though the developer has confirmed that they’re working in 2024 (i.e. Aerosoft EBBR).
Interesting. I know before they did all the patches, my KEWR and others were working fine, but now pretty much everything I have said “disabled” without the option to enable them. I’ll have to go through my list again then.
I’m on XBox and definitely noticed the game looks better now (still not great), but I put it up to all of the mods being disabled other than planes.
If so, then how are xbox users supposed to make use of a product already paid for, Vegas, if 2024 is a streaming game? that would be quite bogus if we can’t. they should let it be streamed, let us download it to our drives, or put it in the new 2024 marketplace to re buy, as a last resort but at least can have it again
I emailed flytampa but never got a response
That is not a question for me or any other user. It’s a very good question to ask Jorg on the next Developer Q&A, however.
what was described remains an assumption from a user, not a fact. before calling out a supposedly restriction, best is to have a feeback from the developer. It’s unfortunate they haven’t replied you ![]()
It is indeed an assumption from (this) user. I will note, however, that Seafront Simulations has asked in the DevSupport Forum if there’s some reasons by their “couple of gigabyte” package is causing FS2024 loading to fail, suggesting it’s an infrastructure limitation on Microsoft’s side.
Given that I have at least two other FS2020 FlyTampa airports that are loading and working just fine (KBOS and LGAV), and how big their Vegas package is, it is a reasonable hypothesis that the current file size, possibly combined with how the entire scenery is packaged, exceeds internal FS2024 streaming limits. It also might explain why is not only not showing as “Not Available,” It doesn’t show up AT ALL.
Perhaps if/when the FS2024 Library is improved to allow local downloads in lieu of streaming, this scenery will show up as available to enable for everyone who owns it in 2020. Alternately, perhaps FlyTampa will repackage it into smaller “chunks” with different/optimized LODs and such to make it better-compatible with FS2024’s default streaming paradigm. But we don’t know which.
On the other hand, there are other users who have posted up-thread about other airports they own which have also not been enabled for them. Maybe there’s some technical commonality between those sceneries and FlyTampa’s Vegas package. Again, Jorg and the Asobo developers should be asked about it.
Most of my hidden are Liveries from 2020, which I’m not expecting getting back. I heard that they would cause a ctd?
I’ll try to submit my question or ask live if I can attend, but I havent had any luck having my questions answered in over a year of trying via the dev streams
That isn’t known yet if they are causing a CTD. I do believe that the plane models have slightly changed due to the new physics updates, so the liveries don’t align exactly. Not sure how true that is but that’s what the rumblings have been around the forums.
Interesting. New England Bridges was available for me, so I rolled the dice and installed it. Seems to work. This is the first time I’ve force enabled an add-on scenery in the sim, and I’m post Hotfix #3.
I’ve enabled nearly all of my Marketplace scenery now, save a few products for which I have improved, non-Marketplace versions in my Community folder instead. They’ve all worked great, including SamScene3D’s NY City scenery, Drzewiecki’s Chicago Landmarks, and a bunch of airports from FlyTampa, Orbx and one or two others.
Yeah, I was leery because of the CTDs others reported. I should try an airport next.
I have everything I own enabled sans from a few low quality items. No ctd on anything.
What I’m annoyed at tho is still missing many airports and fly Tampa Vegas
Ironically, the only CTDs I’ve had since the most recent patch fall into two categories:
- If I try to load FS2024 after first loading into FS2020 and then quitting. I’ll get a silent CTD during the load. Subsequent load attempts will fail with a typically cryptic Windows error code and a link to a decidedly unhelpful “Help” page. Rebooting my PC corrects this and allows the sim to load.
- More annoyingly, the sim will load fine but if I go to Free Flight and attempt to change or configure the aircraft first thing, I usually get a CTD.
Right. I always reboot when changing back and forth between 20 and 24.
So further to my post earlier - I just loaded into FS2024 and noticed that for the first time, my FS2020 Premium and Premium Deluxe content can now also be enabled, en mass or individually. If I attempt to enable content that will conflict with other already-enabled content - aircraft or airports - I am warned of the conflict and asked to confirm.
I see that I can actually enable the FS2020 version of the 787-10 and disable the FS2024 version. Presumably this will allow me (us!) to use Simbrief integration again, and maybe even the community (e.g., Kuro and Horizon Sim) and Marketplace (Bravo) mods to that aircraft in FS2020. I am strongly tempted to give this a try.
EDIT: Hah, I can use the FS2020 787-10 in FS2024. And Simbrief integration works, at least! Now, I don’t know how well it’ll fly a nice long-haul, but I’ll find out this weekend.
I am a big 787 fanboy and verify what you just said about the content being enabled. I will report back on my experiences with the 2020 787-10.
The 2024 787 runs slow compared to the C-172 and I have been trying to nurse it along with my 3070ti… waiting for the 5080. But I have very good FPS data on the 2024 787-10 and will tell you if the 2020 is faster, my guess might be as will have fewer polygons to fill. This is despite the fact that the 2024 does not have the nice gull wing bend… may favorite 2020 shot below… humm it is the 787-8.
After enabling the FS2020 version of the 787-10 in place of the FS2024 version, the Kuro mod seems to work, although the FS2020 Marketplace Bravo mod still causes the sim to hang when you try to load in, require a force-quit of the sim.
Oh, this is MUCH better.
Sunset from Reno to SFO… FPS a solid 40 all the way. The labels of the instruments are CLEAR. Only problem is that the 2024 flight plan does not include the airspeeds and altitudes for all VNAV points. I could not manually enter them. Nor did the LOC/GS work. So there are some incompatibilities with the AP. Rats.
This was with the 2024 FlightPlanner. Maybe I need a Simbrief Plan…
