This issue is fixed with SU16 Beta. The final should be released the first week next month.
To be accurately specific, I turned off my internet access point to my personal computer, from this moment I started MSFS 2020 and exited the software from main user interface; Quit To Desktop option. The software closed its process completely, indicated from my Windows Task Manager.
I had moments ago one of these “Mandatory Updates” on PC(~50MB), a short flight in my area, Ok still the same bugs like usual.
But I still have to close the program over the Task Manager.
I start to believe: they do not care.
Same kind of situation I seen on my Xbox X, where I finally deleted definitely the game.
I had the same result here as well. I’m a founder of VATSIM and I can tell you we got things fixed ASAP when it went down. I hope this FINALLY gets worked out. It’s a hassle to have to close MSFS2020 with the Task Manager everytime.
Thank you very much for the information.
Someone should ask ChatGPT what the environmental impact is of thousands of computers pointlessly having 20% CPU usage for hours on end because they refuse to release a hotfix for this.
Software coding is naturally designed to exit the software. A group or individual, in the software studio is conducting excentric ideas. These excentric ideas are being processed in task manager indicating a frequency in the users private or public space through the Random Access Memory and Central Processing Unit and Power Supply Unit. In today’s society software programmers have the ability to leak information from different sources to different mediums. Personal information and Cyberterrorism are there for conducted by software programmers. In this special case Microsoft should and will Investigate why these excentric frequencies are not exited. In the world we live in people watch innocent people from different stand points utilizing space technology, thus what is called, Digital Warfare, Phycological Warfare and Cyberterrorism.
50 mb mandatory update installed with no probs, but as I shut the sim down it still remains in the task bar.
Closes with task manager.
Do what?
Folks,
As linked above, the mandatory update yesterday was the monthly navdata update. This bug where the executable doesn’t exit properly and must be manually terminated in Task Manager is resolved in SU16 which is currently in public beta testing.
Thanks,
MSFS Team
Same here. Hasn’t been shutting down fully since the last year autumn update. I always have to force it to shut down via task manager after quitting FS2020.
This is the first time I’ve seen a major game publisher let a known bug go unfixed for weeks. There’s a huge loss of professionalism and respect for customers in all of this. It’s sad!
I see the random sentence generator still exists…
Same here, and just a clue… if you turn it to window mode from full screen mode (alt + enter) you can click on CLOSE BUTTON (X) without this problem, but this shouldn’t be the way
And FS2020 still runs in background, as I could see in the Task Manager, where I had to end task.
Just does not appear in the Taskbar anymore.
Wrong, wrong, wrong.
Until Ms fix it I use this solution:
I set up a shortcut on pc desktop with target
“C:\Windows\System32\taskkill.exe /im FlightSimulator.exe /t /f”
(without quote marks - check that is the program still open in Task Manager and adjust the path/name)
I then pinned it to taskbar. After exiting FS2020 I can close the remaining program using this one click fix.
It works for me
The method I posted above works great. I think we all have to accept the fact there will be no hotfix for this. Either join SU16 Beta or wait for SU16 Final.
