MSFS 2024 Aircraft lineup

I do have my doubts about the fidelity of those wear and tear systems. Not sure if they are going to make it tailored to each plane or if it will be a generic thing. If it’s a plane specific thing, I see no reason why they chose to skip this thing for free flight. If it’s a generic thing, then we will have to see how well it fits with each plane.

Working windows and sliding canopies? Tail draggers are usually taxied with with the canopy or windows open and this was a feature I really missed in 2020. It’s nice for low and slow flying on some planes too.

based on the footage from the event, it looks like it automatically kicks you out when you open the door

I like the list of available aircraft but would like to see these SAR Helicopters added which are MH-65 Dolphin, MH-60 Jayhawk, and the Bell UH-1H which widely recognized for their roles in this field.

That would stink. Why would they choose that? That’s exactly the same thing that we all rebelled against when they chose to automatically end flights before we finished shutting down and got a chance to explore the airport.

Man, I wish they’d get it.

Yup… sounds pretty sucky if true.

I’m sure they’ll come. Isn’t there already a UH-1H?

Well at least the animations, bindings and variables are there it looks like, so hopefully a third party app like Spad can hijack this to open the doors, windows, or canopy without triggering the switch to first person. The Asobo T-6 Texan needs it badly, and I’m really hopeful that since this is stock functionality now, the T-6 is now a base aircraft in the standard edition, and all the base aircraft are getting upgraded treatment, that this will be a possibility. Some of the aircraft in 2020 had this functionality already albeit disabled, which leads me to believe they wanted to do this in 2020, but had to push it back due to time and budget constraints.

As far as I could tell, only the TBM had it built into the plane, other than the airlines for integration with the services.

A mod enabled it on the 152 as well.

Didn’t enable it, he had to edit the model. I went through all the gltf files early on. The only plane I could find with (disabled) working doors in the Asobo models was the TBM.

The SR22 in MSFS2024 is the G6, not the G7, correct?

SR22T G6 GTS according to the SU14 release notes.

But I remember Jorg said in a Q&A that Cirrus asked him to do the new G7. Maybe coming later …

The CJ4 also has a working door and cabin with the Woosel mod, but I don’t know how much work he had to do to add all that. It appears to be a fairly complex mod.

I’m still surprised and disappointed Asobo never bothered to update these functions for 2020.

While I totally agree, and opening doors is very important to me personally, I think it was de-prioritized as too much work for the value at that time. They clearly heard us, and now we have it. And I’m happy.

Unhappy if it’s true if we open a door or canopy we’re automatically kicked out or jump in, but, I’m hoping that rumor is untrue.

It’s not a rumour. You can see it happen in some of the event footage.

I think it was also brought up in last week’s Q&A?

My hope is that we can at least override this behavior with a key binding or setting, or at the worst, a third party app like Spad.Next. They should know better after the outcry from having the flight end automatically on shut down.

Agreed, except I don’t want to have to “override” the function. It should work that opening doors is one thing. Jumping into the plane should be a command unto it’s own.

When I’m preflighting my plane, I open the door, reach in and do something (turn on the battery for instance), but I stay outside the plane. Sometimes I just like to open the door and look in at the plane, or sit in the plane and leave the door open while I taxi or start the plane. In sliding canopy planes on a hot day, we might want to leave the canopy open the whole time and close it in flight. In a Piper Cub, you often leave the window door open the whole flight on a summer day.

Point being, entering/leaving the plane should be it’s own command/keystroke, which you can do at any time.

Been asking for it for years: Open Canopies and/or moddable Reno Racers

My hope is now that the T-6 is Standard edition plane, we’ll get it.
