MSFS 2024 Deluxe & Premium Editions: Possible Paths

Its Important to have paid editions additional to the base sim, to have more content availability beside the free content.

my guess is that there will be two paths possible for the MSFS 2024 Deluxe & Premium Editions:

1- offering 2020 Deluxe & Premium Editions content (aircraft & airports) as a standalone products for 2024 to purchase, with maintaining current ownership for those aircraft & airports for 2020 Deluxe & Premium Editions owners. so MSFS 2024 Deluxe & Premium Editions will be new Catalog entirely.

2- keeping the current 2020 Deluxe & Premium Edition content for 2024 Deluxe & Premium Editions, but extending the catalog, to include more aircraft and airports, or even new element other than aircraft & airports in addition. so even owners of 2020 Deluxe & Premium Editions, will benefit from buying the new Deluxe & Premium Editions extended catalog.

All - too many variables presently to even speculate on future. Heck world could end by next year, then no new sim.

And if new one is as messed up as MSFS-2020 was at release, and thousands of us got hit by that, suspect, many folks like myself, are going to wait and see how it all works out. What things I own now, and how those work, what updates vendors are going to release, how that “update path” works, and what if anything is NOT compatible with new sim. Then I have to decide if I want to re-spend money on something.

This is a cloudy future for sure.

I agree It’s always a good idea to have a balanced perspective and wait for official reviews and user feedback before purchasing
bur wow, the release of MSFS2024, will be surrounded with a significant amount of hype and infectious excitement. Not sure if I could resist myself.

If there was a balancing between content (adding not splitting), ownership (keeping pervious, purchasing new content ownership), compatibility (more than 90%), with the new 2024 sim features both in functionality & content (free & paid), which is what expected, there will be no problems at all, we will have a ultimate evolving sim every 4 years.

I hope they go a completely different direction with the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe versions this time. I wanted a good reason to spend the extra money for Premium Deluxe and didn’t feel compelled last time since it cost about double to add a few extra planes (that I mostly wasn’t interested in) and a few more detailed airports (few of which I ever visit and since I started with an older system, very detailed airports were basically unusable for me anyways). So I just went with the Standard and added some stuff and I don’t regret it at all.

I suggested that all the categories of activities should also be expanded in the extra additions like extra Bush trips and Challenges that take advantage of the planes that are only available in the premium offerings. And when they add new ones, add them across all 3 categories so that the premium customers end up with significantly more content. Maybe the new career paths could be scattered across the different versions with the more gamey ones in the Standard, some bush pilot / cargo hauling paths in the Deluxe, and the Airliner career path in the Premium Deluxe. Those of us who are serious simmers don’t mind spending the money to help support the development so why not market it that way?

I think using the term “gamey” to describe various types of aviation, is kind of misconception.

other than this point, i totally agree that providing variety in the paid editions of the new sim would be attractive and refreshing and interesting.

Why you really thought it out for real.

When MSFS2020 first was released, there were no 3PD airports or aircraft. Airport came fast, but planes took their time to appear.

So the Premium / Deluxe packages were attractive, and they added more content, when there was no other additional content.

Then developer stated producing airports and planes, and very soon they were making content far better than the added content in the Premium & Deluxe packages.

But what happened to those Premium & Deluxe content, while the content of the main base sim was being updated and improved.

VIRTUALLY NOTHING.

So all those who purchased the Premium & Deluxe version, and paid almost TWICE just for those few extra contents, were left with aging content that never got updated.

SO, for 2024, in a Premium or Deluxe version, will that content be updated to the current expected standards, or will it just contain the same , original stale content that was, and still is, in the 2020 version ?

And it seems at this time, with only a few months before 2024 releases, there is not an announced plan as to the existence of Premium or Deluxe version for 2024 ?

SO anyone currently with the Premium / Deluxe version, would be foolish to rush out and buy MSFS 2024, till they knew what the Premium * Deluxe version contain , and if they were any better than what was old & stale in 2020.

FYI: I purchased the Premium / Deluxe version when it came out,( at x2 the cost of the base version) and was happy (at the time) with the extra content, but was then VERY disappointed when it was not updated, in the same way that the base Version content was.

They could go ‘car pass’ style for premium that gets you a set number of FF/LL DLC aircraft for free or something like that.

That’s not 100% true. I love the longitude, that alone would cost the difference I paid for the premium deluxe version. Working Title improved a lot of the premium deluxe planes. The 787 also improved a lot (not PMDG quality, but better than Captain Sim, for example) and would cost, I don’t know, another 20 dollars. The airports are not the best available, but they weren’t also the worst.

That said, Jörg doesn’t know at this moment if there will be multiple versions of the simulator. BUT if they decide to release multi tiered versions of the simulator, I would think about getting the most complete versions of the simulator.

As a premium deluxe owner, I feel they’ve lost the opportunity to make it worth a little more. Besides having more content at launch, all the other updates after that delivered the same content to everyone.

That’s good for the people that owned only the basic version, but it makes the other versions less attractive. Not really complaining, because I think it worthed my purchase, but if they wanted to sell more of the other versions, they should have released more exclusive content through the years. Or just release one single version, and sell the extras as DLCs.

Meh I’m still just buying the premium version again for sure. I’ve always done it with racing games and AAA fps too.

I’m still betting they have an Avanti in the premium version
