MSFS 2024 does not recognize DX12

it should work with your GPU, I hope there is a solution, I just changed CPU, motherboard and RAM and I don’t want to spend any more money immediately to buy a new GPU

I have the same problem whit a ryzen 5 4500, RX580 and 16GB ram

It says that the ideal spec for Nvidia is a RTX 4080. I am running a liquid cooled RTX 4090. Surely these newest graphics card are more than adequate.

I guess the big question for me is do I swap out my RX570 with my RTX2060 from another machine that I have that is a parts machine? Will the 2060 work with dx12.1?

What a disaster
My laptop is met wih requirements and directx12 which i already have.

I can confirm that DX12 does work. I only got my first flight late last night due to a post I saw referring to CPU cores of a high number. I always use HDR DX12 on a 43 inch desktop ROG Swift. I had not been able to get a flight in until last night and have been flying most of the day today(day 5). First, I have all solid state drives with an asus Rampage extreme encore motherboard, an Intel 10980XE CPU with 18 cores and 36 threads overclocked to 4.7ghz and 64GB of RAM. I was constantly not able to start the game and would hang and crash to desktop at around 58% to 90% world data loading screen. I also have a VPN with my security so I was trying that as well to no avail.
When I read a post about CPUs with high number of cores I kept persisting and finally got into the game and was able to turn everything up to Ultra graphics at 3840x2160 resolution with HDR and it really looks great(not without problems though).
Here is what I did. I started the sim from Xbox app, then once it starts playing the video scenes I open the task manager. Right click the flightsim exe in processes and go to details. Then I right click the flightsim exe and set the priority to high and accept(only select high priority), then right click again and set affinity. I have 18 cores showing (0 to 17). Uncheck (All) and leave the box (All) unchecked, then I selected cores 0 to 8. I close the task manager and it loads sim objects then world data then low and behold it loads right to start and I’m in. I do always make sure my VPN is set to the fastest location.
I have been playing all day but other than cranking up graphics I have been busy trying to set up basic controls on my Velocity One Flightdeck stick and throttle as well as my Turtle beach rudder pedals. Aircraft controls are another matter that is very cumbersome.
I did get the motorized balloon flying and had a lot of fun. I like fast military jets but found the best one to calibrate my controls was the Asobo L-39. My marketplace purchases for the T-33, F-104D, F-86 Sabre and some others I tried are quite hard to control and need fine tuning and attention from the developers.
I have only just begun to try the sim out and have not flown as many hours (16 plus) not able to fly or even get into the game. I think the sim has some real potential and am quite willing to keep trying.
HDR DX12 at high resolution does work and I had some very smooth flying with no stuttering and really nice graphics. I have an Nvidia RTX 4090 liquid cooled graphics card.
I hope this might help some of the PC users who can’t get into the game.

… solved the problem with an upgrade to Win11. After that no further problems with direct 12.

still not fixed even with new patch

The same thing happens to me, it gives me the same error and directx 12, this is a serious disaster micro.

Bro it’s still not working

GTX 660?? HAHHAHAHAH that is centuries old now, it is 3 generations older than the minimum GTX970 required to run the game

What graphics card? Is this in a Macbook pro intel. Can you confirm that the win11 upgrade fixes the “impossible DirectX12 and the D3D12Renderer… pop-up errors”?

Having the same issue. Did you have to update your Graphics Card? If so AMD or Intel and what website did you use to reinstall DX12? Thank you

Whats the latest? Have you been able to get in the Platform? The more research I do, the more confusing it gets. Has anyone heard back from Zendesk? Next step for me is Geek Squad with a complete diagnostic and a re-install of DX12 and AMD Driver update… Will post and let you know what I find… good luck on your end

My Sapphire Pulse RX 580 8GB runs MSFS2020 on minimum settings okay. It is not qualified to run MSFS2024 since it will not support DirectX12 full or latest version. My other PC with an EVGA new old stock founders version GTX980 8GB will run MSFS2024 on the barest minimum settings across the board. Better hardware is needed.

Latest update for my Similar problem … I replaced my AMD RX580 with a AMD RX7800XT and added 32GB Ram. That solved the DirectX12 issue and I’m up and running. ( I was surprised I had to do this because all the input I received said if your Rig runs ok on FS20 you should be fine to run FS24… which it didn’t). Performance now CPU 13%,GPU39%…VRAM 37%…RAM 45%… FPS 30. Almost a happy camper until Glitches showed up on all three(3) Monitors like white and Black spots. Now in the process of Troubleshooting the Driver for DDU (Driver Display Uninstall) … will post when issue is resolved.

As mentioned in my other post on “the DirectX12 issue” where I wrote " support [of] DirectX12 full or latest version" There is a timeline of development on DX12. Early version had some but not all of the abilities of the more recent DX12. I guess no one wanted to name it “DX13”. MSFS2020 needs at least the early version and the video cards developed for that version. MSFS2024 needs the newer version of DX12 and video cards that were developed for it. I might have to buy a new video card.

Using multiple monitors in FS can be done several ways.
Expanding the center or main screen across the side ones by dragging an edge (common in Windows for ages) is one way.
Or a card software utilty from Nvidia or AMD could do it.
Another is to use “Multi-view” in MSFS. You can add discrete views of left and right to those screens. Search with Google how to set up “Experimental” in the “Graphics Options” menu. That will let you make the side monitors show side views. And you can adjust vertical, horizontal and tilt (if needed) offsets for edge blending and bezel width compensation.
Trying to find the best way to run multple monitors might get rid of the problem you are seeing.
