MSFS 2024 freezes on exit - requires task manager to stop process

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

When attempting a normal exit to desktop or close of the simulator window, it freezes and becomes unresponsive. It is not possible to close the app other than killing the process in task manager. Sometimes this results in a prompt on the next launch asking if should start in “safe mode”. More often however, it does not, and starts up normally as if nothing prior happened.

It is not necessary to load an airplane or fly anywhere. It can happen after doing nothing more than visiting the marketplace or changing controller settings.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

About 50% of the time when trying to exit to desktop

  1. Select either Exit to Desktop or click the close box in the window title bar.

Description of the issue:msfs hangs when i want to close down to desktop. Closing it down with taskmanager is the only option.

Same happens to me every time i exit the game, but it started after yesterday’s update 4.

Before that it randomly happend, but only occasionally.

Now after Sim update 4 it happens every time i exit the game while i didn’t change anything else in or around the game or my PC.

Tags: MSFS-2024, Steam, Windows 10, DX12, MSI RTX-3080, Intel I13700k.

Still happening every time i exit the Flightsim. It goes to desktop but the MSFS2024.exe keeps running in the background without exiting.

I also have issues with the Steam version after SU4. MSFS2024 does not seem to shut down cleanly. If I’m in VR and I quit to desktop, sometimes it shuts down cleanly. When starting 2024 back up, I’m presented with this message.

I found a workaround to restarting steam completely. If I kill the LogiMicrosoftFlightSimulator.exe from the task manager, I can restart the game without exiting out of steam. However, I’m still getting this message.

Sigh… another bug that 2020 had, was resolved, and now we’re doing it all over again. Msfs 2020 will not shut down fully

I don’t have this issue. Probably caused by some addon, I would try with an empty community folder to rule that out.
